I say this and it's partly bitter sweet because as a United fan I'm instinctively against overly praising City players, especially one that used to play for us, but can we just appreciate how far Alex has come.
I remember around 2017-19, under the Phil Neville era, he used to swap between Alex and Demi Stokes at left back. He'd play Demi when he felt it was likely England were going to be on the defensive more as he judged Demi better, then when we were more likely to dominate possession he'd use Alex for her attacking ability.
Through a combination of injuries and chance she became more of a CB at club level and along with her distribution her defensive solidity has come on leaps and bounds. I think in the euros it was harsh she wasn't a starter but understood since they had millie and leah, but since they've both been out for long periods since she's become a linchpin. It will be very interesting to see who misses out when all are fit or whether they move to a wing back system to accommodate them (which might free kiera).
Anyway longstory short, I think over the past 5/6years she's England's most improved player by a mile.
