Alex Collins pickup?

Carson sat out Tues with a neck injury. I’ve seen no one saying anything about stashing Collins just in case Carson doesn’t play. Probably a good idea right? He might be a free bench pickup in your league. Just got him and didn’t use a waiver claim.

Alex Collins is a RB2 this week

With Chris Carson being put on IR, Alex Collins should be rostered everywhere. However, I've seen a lot of people on here say that they aren't starting him this week because their matchup against the Steelers sucks. Let's actually look at the Steelers rushing defense lately.

Week 5 against the Broncos: Javonte Williams rushed 8 times for 61 yards. 7.6 ypc.

Week 4 against the Packers: AJ Dillon rushed 15 times for 81 yards. 5.4 ypc.

Week 3 against the Bengals: Joe Mixon rushed 18 times for 90 yards. 5 ypc.

So across those last 3 games and those 3 RBs the Steelers allowed 5.6 yards per carry. Not to mention across those 3 games, RBs are averaging 10.5 yards per catch.

Alex Collins got 15 rushes and 3 targets last game. I would expect his targets to go up more because Geno won't be throwing the ball down the field as much as Wilson. I think Collins is going to get around 14-16 rushes and 4-6 targets. With those previous stats mentioned I would project him to get around 70-80 rushing yards and 30-40 receiving yards, easily a 10-12 point floor in .5 PPR with a good chance at a TD. Unless you are stacked at RB he should be in your lineup this week.

Edit: Since a lot of people are complaining about leaving other RBs off this I'll include them.

Melvin Gordon had 9 rushes for 34 yards. 3.8 ypc.

Aaron Jones had 15 rushes for 48 yards. 3.2 ypc.

Samaje Perine had 1 rush for -1 yards. -1 ypc.

When you factor that in, the Steelers are allowing 4.74 yards per carry over the last 3 games to opposing RBs. Still not good. And with those RBs factored in for receiving it's 10.27 yards per catch.

Edit 2: Alex Collins finished with 16.3 fantasy points in half PPR, making him the RB14 on the week.

dude has been balling. he probably came up clutch for a lot of owners in week 13 and the first round of the playoffs.

considering he was a waiver claim for mosts owners, he's probably saving a lot of seasons right now. i know i wouldn't be in the playoffs and now in the semifinals if it wasn't for the Irish Dancer!

edit to add: i was down 23 points with tucker and collins left. figured i was a bit of a long shot but still had a chance. that touchdown run in the first half was a thing of beauty. and collins 17 yard run to the 1 sealed it for me. fun stuff!
