I’ve only been wearing it for a short while and have already got Dior Sauvage and Rabanne Phantom. Both men and women’s opinions are welcome.
Edit: Thanks everyone for the reply’s, keep them coming. All very helpful, I’ll end up trying most of them. I have to say tho, some of you are mad for buying £250+ aftershaves 😂😂

I’m planning on buying my son some aftershave for Christmas and I’m honestly clueless. My OH has worn the same aftershave the entire time we’ve been together and I don’t want to just get my son the same thing as my OH.
He’s 14, and I don’t want to buy him anything too expensive as I’ve already got him a lot for Christmas, but I also don’t want to get him something rubbish, teenagers are super judgy and I don’t know if there’s a particular aftershave that people would take the piss out of him for. Unfortunately, I likely won’t be able to go to the shops between now and Christmas, so I can’t go and smell for myself.
If anyone has any suggestions I’d be really grateful. Thank you.

Wetshaving - isn't all shaving wet? Kinda. Wetshaving is how barbers used to get the ultrasmooth shave of legends. The secret isn't more blades and more canned goo but a single wicked edge. Shaving is 50+ days of a woman's life and 85+ for a man's. Do you want to spend that time hating or enjoying what you are doing? The better way is wetshaving, come and see what "they" didn't want you to know.
A bit about me: I have been wet shaving for about 10 years with a shavette, I used to date a hairdresser who bought me my first one back then.
I'm not too fancy, I alternate between a cheap shavette and a Gillette razor, Proraso Soap and no aftershave... Yet. I discovered the sub and you all convinced me I need to get some (as well as so many other items, y'all should get some compensation from manufacturers across the globe...).
So the question is: any of you got recommendation for an aftershave the ladies or lads, whatever rock your boat, showed appreciation for?

I finished rewatching Home Alone on Disney Plus and, as usual, was given the "You may also like" screen; this time, for Home Alone 2. Greeting me there was a photo I can't find anywhere else online. It's a still from a deleted scene of Kevin screaming at the hotel bathroom mirror again after using aftershave.

I.just found out that aftershave is not made out of collected water thats been used during the shaving process.
I seriously thought up until today, that aftershave was this disgusting collection of the water that goes down the drain with all the hair and cream, filtered so you can splash it on your face to smell good. What the fuck.

I have a distinct memory of the first time I knowingly smelled my dad’s aftershave. It was the ‘90s, I was young and had gotten up early in the morning, sat on our living room carpet and put on Saturday morning cartoons. My dad had just finished getting ready and came into the living room to talk before he headed out for errands. Mom was about to arrive home with McDonald’s breakfast for me, because my teacher had given me a star sticker that week.
Dad told me to make sure I did my chores and played outside with my friends, as I was blasted by the scent of his Clubman aftershave.
I asked him “what’s that?” and he just smirked and responded, “It’s a gentleman thing. You’ll see one day.”
My dad had always used Clubman, every day. My grandpa had used it before him (Grandpa was a tough old S.O.B. who stormed a beach, and probably only liked Clubman for the burn).
My father was never Mr. “Emotionally Available,” and he could be kind of an asshole sometimes. He worked a lot and may have been a bit absent. But one thing he always tried to instill in me was the idea of being a gentleman. It was very important to him.
In his mind, this meant always being well-dressed, well-groomed, freshly cut, good posture, good manners, always hold the door open, always pay for a woman, etc.
The best bonding time we had was Sundays. Every week, he would take me with him to the barber. First thing in the morning, we’d go to our favorite diner—he’d have black coffee and eggs (with a copy of the Wall Street Journal), and I’d have pancakes. Then we’d go to the barber and get our haircuts. He would also get a shave, while casually talking to the other men about sports or politics (in a ‘90s way, where they were able to disagree about things without hating each other).
I loved the smell of the fresh talc powder being brushed in (I don’t care how bad it was for us). I loved the smell of the aftershave. I loved the barbershop.
All of these memories are tied into my aftershave (Clubman, of course), and every time I use it I feel a little bit of happiness and nostalgia.
Grandpa is long gone, and dad has honestly seen better days. But by using this aftershave, I do feel like I’m continuing some sort of tradition, or legacy (as lame as that sounds). My wife gave birth to our beautiful son last year. I’m not saying I’m going to force him to use Clubman or anything, but I hope he smells it—and I do hope he asks me about it one day.
I wonder about the rest of you? What special/fun/interesting memories (if any) do you have tied to your aftershave, or shaving in general? Any stories you want to share? What is your shaving routine, and what does it mean to you? What is your aftershave, and why did you choose it?
