Watching Monday night football and totally forgot the guy existed, much less played for the Raiders.
Feels like an eternity ago in Lion years, especially compared to where we are now.
Oh, and FTP.
I was watching some NFL football today, feeling bad about the last three Huskers losses, and I started wondering “when was he last time a Husker made an game-changing play in the 4th quarter of a close contest?”
Right at that moment, I watched Ameer make a play on special teams for the Raiders and the announcer says “Abdullah leads the Raiders in special teams tackles.”
Dude built a 9-year NFL with his limited size and abilities (by NFL standards). That’s quite an achievement. He may not be an NFL star, but Ameer is still a special player.
There have been a couple big plays made by Huskers since Ameer’s McNeese state run. But none as singularly “game-winning”.
Just wanted to share how much I appreciate his time with Nebraska and recognize that nobody has had Ameer’s type of impact since he went to the league.

Alright y'all, this sub is dead af with people's seasons in the trash and shitposting is as high as ever so I want to post something useful for those still in it. Let me tell you about my boy Ameer Abdullah and why he's worth a pickup. Since joining the Panthers in Week 8, Ameer has slowly been taking over the Panthers backfield and the fantasy world seems to be unaware of it. Here are his snap counts compared to Chuba Hubbard:
Week 8: Abdullah 30% | Hubbard 55%
Week 9: Abdullah 37% | Hubbard 17%
Week 10: Abdullah 21% | Hubbard 21%
Week 11: Abdullah 16% | Hubbard 2%
Week 12: Abdullah 49% | Hubbard 20%
As you can see, besides week 8 (after signing with the Panthers the day before the game), Abdullah has tied or outsnapped Hubbard in every game he's played.
To add to Ameer's case, the man eats targets like Rex Ryan eats feet. Here are his targets since joining the team:
Week 8: 5 targets, 3 catches for 35 yards
Week 9 : 5 targets, 4 catches for 30 yards
Week 10: 4 targets, 4 catches for 27 yards
Week 11: 0 targets
Week 12: 6 targets, 2 catches for 20 yards
So not only is he a viable play with a high ceiling based on the snapcount trend, but he's also got a good floor due to his ability in the passing game. This makes him a good gamble because if I'm wrong and he ends up not carrying the running load, there's a good chance he'll still net you 6-8 points based on his receiving prowess. I have both Ameer and Hubbard and will be starting Ameer with stupid confidence. Obviously, no one knows what will happen but based on his increased snap counts and involvement in the passing game, I think Abdullah is a pretty safe gamble.
Why the hell are you still reading this? Go pick up Ameer and win your week with a big dick move that'll put some fear in your leaguemates! Best of luck.

Each week this year, Abdullah has been putting up better fantasy performances (7.1, 8.6, 11.6, 19.9 in 1PPR). This past week against the Vikings, he had 20 carries for 94 yards and 1 TD. He also caught 3 of 4 targets for 15 yards.
Is Abdullah quietly becoming a top 12-15 option?

Well the talent has always been there for Ameer after losing the entire season last year he seems primed and ready.
After starting the year with two unfavorable match ups he now faces the falcons in what's likely to be a shoot out. Atlanta has been soft on running backs last year and again this year. He looked very elusive and quick against a good giants defense.
Dwayne Washington is injured and likely won't be there to vulture goal line work leaving Abdullah as the only legit runner. Riddick will of course vulture some pass catching work but Abdullah is no slouch catching balls out of the backfield.
Have the planets aligned? Is this the week?

Ameer Abdullah is in a favorable situation this year. It appears the the will be getting the majority of the touches, Detroit has a relatively easy schedule for RBs, and 13 of their games will be played indoors this year. Other then the fumbling issues, Abdullah did show lots of potential last season. Do you guys think this can be a breakout year for him?

Why is it illogical with a 2nd year RB in his prime with little competition for the starter spot that he could easily outplay his current ADP of RB 31 this season? I personally don't think it's crazy talk, and let me prove it to you.
The Lions averaged 375 carries over the last two seasons. The combination of Bell (now gone) and Abdullah last season was 223 carries.
Let's give Abdullah only 200 carries for the sake of this argument. Give him last year's average ypc, and your talking 834 yards. TDs with no Calvin Johnson in the lineup makes it a bit more tricky, but I think he could fall in the 6-8 TD range. We'll average and give him 7.
Theo Riddick was also there last season, but really only focused on the passing game with 99 targets. With Bell taking up 27 targets and Abdullah getting 38, I wouldn't be surprised if Abdullah got 50 total targets this year. Let's assume he catches 60% of those targets, which is 30 receptions. With a 2015 average ypc of 7.32, that would give him an additional 220 yards, and probably 2 TDS.
My totals from above given the history and current situation give him approximately 159 points in standard scoring. With ppr, 189. Now my math isn't great, but I think he has the markings of higher consideration than RB 31. Seems like RB15 is a more likely outcome, making him one hell of a steal in any league format. The numbers above are only his floor IMO. He has opportunity, talent, and a staff committed to him. He's also on a team that is looking to reinvent themselves after the sudden departure of Megatron. Thoughts?

I'm still pretty optimistic about Abdullah and own him in 3/4 leagues. He didn't look bad and had the carry numbers. I think he was just playing a tough Ari Def. If Detroit didn't make so many bonehead decisions they could have been up the whole game and he would have gotten when more carries. The only red flag I saw was when they through Dwayne Washington in there and have him carries. But again I think they were just trying to throw different things at Arizona to try and get big play.
What is your views on Abdullah after week 1?
