AMD Ryzen 7 3800X and Wraith Prism cooler

Hello. The pc I am currently building is my first pc. My cousin, who knows a lot more about pcs than me, said that it might be worth it to upgrade my cooler from the stock one to a better aftermarket one. I am just wondering if it would be worth it to buy a new one, or if the stock one would be good enough for a few months. Also, what would the temps look like with the stock one?

AMD RYZEN 7 3800X, PC sometimes randomly just turns off. Could this be a heating or hardware issue?

AMD RYZEN 7 3800X, PC sometimes randomly just turns off. Could this be a heating or hardware issue?

I recently got an AMD Ryzen 7 3800X though, instead of using the cooler it comes with for some reason I decided to use a Cooler Master Hyper 212 (Don't know if this is an issue or not).

I have noticed twice, about a few weeks apart, that the PC will suddenly and randomly just turn off. Strangely, the lights for the RAM Sticks, GPU and Fans all remain off but everything else is off (E.g. The fans stop spinning etc).

Pushing power will get the PC to go again seemingly without issue.

I am trying to figure out if these symptoms point to: The CPU overheating and shutting down The issues with the motherboard Power supply Something else entirely

I will try to find logs for the CPU temperature to get a better picture, but I thought I'd ask if anyone had experienced something similar and knows what the possible cause could be.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bought The amd ryzen 7 3800X and im getting way less fps in csgo than others are getting

There was a post I saw where it said AMD is now the best cpu for CSGO. The Ryzen 7 3700X was getting 550 fps on CSGO. Now I went and bought the Ryzen 7 3700X (btw, they sent me a Ryzen 7 3800X instead, but i assume thats better?)

Anyway i am getting WAY lower than 550 fps. In any map. I am getting 150-250 maximum, its actually almost the same as my i5-8600K, but this CPU is way better.

My GPU is a 1060 6GB, and ive seen benchmarks with it getting way above my fps. Any ideas would be helpful thanks

AMD Ryzen 7 3800x with 32GB of RAM

Hi guys,

Sorry for yet another post regarding a new home server build. I am quite new to home-hosting and looking to use this machine for VMs (Proxmox or ESXi) & Docker containers (Inside VM).

I currently have an RP4 (Ubuntu) & a NAS TS-859 Pro+, the RP4 which is running just PiHole which I think is a little overkill and looking for other alternatives to fully utilize the RP4, and the NAS which is just used as storage.

On Docker I plan to run currently (Looking to add more later) :

  • DashMachine/Heimdall

  • Home Assistant

  • Nextcloud

  • Firefly

  • Traefik

  • Portainer

  • Jellyfin

  • Web Services

I am looking for advice on the best way to run this through Proxmox or ESXi or through Open Media Vault. I am also looking for the best way to fully utilize my RP4!

Thank you for your suggestions & feedback to improve my home-hosted server!

Noctua NH-U12A paired with Amd Ryzen 7 3800X - Asus X570 Tuf Gaming , very impressived!

Hey Guys,

This is a honest review, I recently purchased a Noctua NH-U12A , to replace my Corsair H80i GT and Corsair H45 , overall I'm very happy with it.

I'm using Asus performance mode (set in BIOS - this will help to reduce the voltage automatically - 1.000V ) - if set to normal Voltages are going crazy - 1.39V (that's a lot even i'm not using it for gaming or rendering - just browsing).

Corsair H80i GT and Corsair H45 - idle 55-60C - just browsing , while playing 65-70C

Noctua NH-U12A - idle 42-50C , with very low RPM (1000 RPM) - just browsing. While playing 60C

I'm using a phantek P400(isn't a great thermal cooler), I had to remove the front panel case so good air flow can go it while i'm playing, otherwise it will go up to 70C

I've been using liquid coolers for long time, but for AMD which demands CPU heat, you can't go wrong with AIR coolers, definitely recommend Noctua NH-U12A , I was very hesitant because of the brown colors, otherwise you can go with Chromax - I haven't test it yet, but its sounds like a good deal too.

I hate how companies are not taking seriously the front airflow of the case, most of the case just have couple of holes so air can go in, if you need to buy a case, make sure front case have enough ventilation for your fans, otherwise air "might" recirculate through the case and gets really hot.

Cheers,
