Why didn't anyone tell me about George Harrison's All Things Must Pass?

I've been a Beatles fan since the 90s when I was around 10. My dad has always been a George fan but for some reason he failed to introduce me to All Things Must Pass - I'm 37 now.

I can't believe I've been living without this masterpiece for so much of my life! I'm absolutely blown away by this album. George's talent is so incredible and it's the best thing to have come out of the break up of The Beatles in my opinion.

I can't help but wonder how things would have been if Paul and John let him put of his songs on The Beatles albums?

My hypothetical 1971 Beatles Album - All Things Must Pass

Been seeing a few people post their fantasy 1970/1971 Beatles albums, so I thought I'd throw my two cents in and see what I could come up with. I used songs that were written/recorded during the years 1968-early 1971, so songs like It Don't Come Easy, Not Guilty and Imagine are eligible. I also used the 4/4/4/2 format and didn't exceed 25 minutes on each side of the record.

Instead of breaking up 1970, The Beatles decide to take some extended time away from each other. They don't write or record together as a foursome from September 1969 to October 1970 (Paul, Ringo, and George still work on Let It Be in January 1970). In the meantime, John and Yoko release the Plastic Ono Band album, but use some singles they released instead of the songs I use for the Beatles. Paul releases his first solo album as well, using songs from McCartney and Ram. George (knowing he’ll get a bigger showcase with the new Beatles record) and Ringo hold off on their solo music for now.

The band reunites in October and gets to work on a new album, but before that is finished in early 1971 (say February or March), they put out a Christmas double A single letting the world they're back.

Double A single - Imagine and Isn't It a Pity. In a show of good faith after some tension with George, Paul agrees to sit this single out. Also, wanted What Is Life here, but Pity was too long for my album so I swapped them.

Here's the track list for the album, along with where each song came from.

All Things Must Pass

  1. Instant Karma! - John single

  2. Maybe I'm Amazed - McCartney

  3. Let It Down - All Things Must Pass (George)

  4. It Don't Come Easy - Ringo single

  5. Gimme Some Truth - Imagine (John)

  6. Not Guilty - White Album Esher demo (George)

  7. Junk - McCartney

  8. What is Life - ATMP (George)

  9. Too Many People - Ram (Paul). Lyrics may have to reworked a bit for awkwardness reasons

  10. Hold On - Plastic Ono Band (John)

  11. Another Day - Ram (Paul)

  12. Early 1974 - Ringo single. Again, some lyrics need to be changed since they didn't break up.

  13. Child of Nature - White Album Esher demo (John). Wanted Jealous Guy, changed for timing.

  14. All Things Must Pass - ATMP (George)

Let me know what you think. Is it good? Is it Junk? If you guys like it I already have a 1972 single and 74 album scenario outlined, the album is just a little long right now and needs to be tightened. Thanks for any input!

Edit: forgot to add a Spotify playlist for those interested

Edit 2: For anyone who stumbles across this post, I made a double album version of this LP just for fun called Everest
