As a consortium is supposedly trying to take over the club which is partly backed by John Thornton, many are opposing to it because of his close links with Steve Bannon.
I'd just like to remind us of our current owner Farhad Moshiri and his best buddy, Alisher Usmanov. Though Usmanov doesn't sponsor the club anymore, he still owns USM who Moshiri is Chairman of.
USM is mostly a mining company. It mines metals including copper. Here's just a quick article on modern slavery in the mining sector:

The same article states: "It is estimated that more than 50,000 North Korean migrant workers have been sent abroad through the North Korean state-sponsored system, most of whom were sent to Russia and China. Once overseas, North Korean migrant workers are primarily employed in the mining, logging, textile, and construction industries."
Most likely, our owner made a lot of money of off modern slavery in mining, the company who he's chairman of was our main sponsor and the name was on the entrance of our training ground. Our current owner's best buddy is 'one of Putin's favorite oligarchs' ().
Everyone should hate Steve Bannon with a passion but he wouldn't even be involved in the takeover and is only associated with one of our then new owners.
Bannon is in no way comparable to Usmanov or even Moshiri in how repulsive they are, in the way they made their money and the ties that they have.
In terms respect for human rights, our club would do 100x better with our new owners then it does now and I would be 100% for getting rid of Moshiri.
After further research into Barrick Gold, I'd like to oppose this takeover too. Point still stands about the Bannon comparison but fucking hell, we wouldn't do any better with Thornton as owner.
