• Reliever Alex Vesia is now allowing a 1.011 OPS, turning every player he faces into a HoF-worthy batter.

In 17.2 innings, Vesia has allowed 33 hits and 15 runs (14 earned). His WHIP of 2.43 is the worst in MLB for any pitcher with over 10 innings pitched. He’s allowing a BA of .393. Every batter Vesia has faced has essentially become Ted Williams.

I’ll be interested to see his FIP and SIERA once this game is included in Fan Graphs’ calculations. Entering the game those stats loved him (3.40 FIP and 3.32 SIERA, primarily due to his aggressive strikeout rate and the fact that those metrics overvalue strikeouts).

Edit- Vesia’s FIP actually improved after that performance because he threw two strikeouts against only one walk. His FIP is now 3.33, one of the best on the roster.
