Wal-Mart is not a video store, please be nice to retail workers and understand that they reasonably might not always want to prioritize finding a random steelbook in the back for you on top of the dozens of other tasks they have to complete

With the development that Wal-Mart is now going to be the major store carrier for studio releases of steelbooks, I’ve seen a lot of comments and posts in this community with really harsh attitudes toward the people who work at their local stores.

The bottom line is that Wal-Mart is a massive store with understaffed workers who do not receive the best treatment. They have a lot of shit to do. On top of all the shit they have to do, they have to be bothered by shitty customers all the time. I just went to one the other day to purchase Ferrari on blu-ray, and the lady at the counter in the electronics department was being screamed at by a woman who wanted to return something but didn’t have the proper receipt or payment method.

When you go up to an employee and start badgering them about how whatever Steelbook is supposed to be out on the rack, you’re probably not the first or last customer who is going to have an attitude with them that day, so don’t be surprised if they have no patience for it. Have a little empathy, understand that this hobby of our’s is not the most important thing in the world, hopefully not even to us but most definitely not to the random people working at your local Wal-Mart. At the end of the day, if you’re getting so frustrated over a piece of plastic/metal that holds a movie inside that you would be rude to another human being you don’t even know, you really need to do some reflecting. That applies whether you are rude to their face or you come online here later and start talking about them.

Ask politely, offer as much information as you can about the product you want, and if the person can’t or won’t help you, try to find someone else. Maybe you’ll get help, but one guarantee is that getting angry over it won’t resolve the issue at all.
