Hi everyone, for context my friend and I went to la this past weekend as a girls trip. Our hotel was in DTLA and we researched restaurants before hand. But each one we went to was dead?? We would go around 6-7 for dinner and it would be empty inside besides the workers. Is there something we missed?? Or is downtown not active?
Have employer option A as 75k salary and employer option B as 100k salary. Employer A is not willing to budge on increasing salary (already tried negotiating)
Employer A is:
-
10 miles away and only a 20-25 minute drive with traffic
-
4% 401k match after 1 year
-
pays 75% of health benefits
Employer B is
-
34 miles away but since it’s against traffic (I’ve tested the drive) is a 45-50 minute commute both ways
-
no 401k match but has 401k after 1 year
-
pays 40% of health benefits
Both have 15 days vacation per year and 5 sick days and equal number of paid holidays.
Obviously the extra $$ is enticing but I’ve already had a long commute to work before and really hated it! I don’t have any debt except my undergraduate student loans ($300 per month). I’m also worried for the wear on any car I’d drive for such a long commute.
Also, employer A is an established company whether employer B has only been around since 2018. It is for the same kind title/role at both companies.
Anybody been in similar situation and has advice to give?
I went to a concert at the wiltern and there were two all gender bathrooms. The women and men naturally separated themselves. When I saw men only I turned back at the request of my husband, but when I saw the amount of women waiting at the other restroom I went back to the first one, as I got there, 3 women turned back upon seeing men at the urinals and one was awkward about them leaving so she turned too but I told her I’d go in with her. We used the restroom and that was that. As I was exiting, the line was long. It seems the men that got there after I went in didn’t want to use the urinals in front of the women. I asked my husband why and he says he takes a big step back so urine doesn’t land on his shoes and pants and he doesn’t want to flash his penis at all those women waiting. Im glad he’s courteous lol, but it got me thinking about how men and women both feel uncomfortable in them which isn’t the intended outcome. I think that for these bathrooms to work they should add dividers in the urinals, while new construction should have stalls only?
