The tlcsisterwives one? Yeah they're known for banning people over anything. I was permanently banned for asking what positive snark was. They said they only wanted to see positive snark and I wasn't sure what it meant.

Are you talking about the TLCSisterWives sub? Oh they’re wack over there. In 2022 I accidentally misgendered Leo when they first became trans and was banned 5 days. No warning. And then, like you when I explained I would never do that on purpose they muted me for 14 days from speaking to a mod again. Which I find cowardly to mute a member after unjustly banning them. They are the worst over there and seems like a power hunger house wife who takes this way too personally.

I got banned for 90 days for making a comment that didn’t directly relate to footage shown on TV. I related Christine’s reaction on the show to something with something that happened in my own life to identify with. When I politely asked why I got banned for that when the rules only specified that unrelated posts were against sub rules, I got an unhinged paragraph back and banned from messaging mods for 28 days. I just left and muted the sub. I’d been on there for years without issue. I think their mod is having a crisis.

Glad this sub exists! It’s fun and the mods are sane.

On that sub for as long as I can remember people referred to Robyn as Sobyn. One day the mod decided nicknames were banned and just went about banning anybody that used it 😂 Literally overnight.

They permanently banned people for posting about Christine's wedding, because there was a pinned post.

They permanently ban you if you mention anything personal e.g. if you reference something related to the show like divorce or being a Mormon or something.

She is unhinged!

Same thing happened to me. I mistakenly referred to Leon as their dead name, quickly realized it, but within a few minutes I was banned. It was an honest mistake and I meant no harm. I think banning over that is overkill. I left the group. The mods seem like they’re power-hungry.

I was banned for a racist comment. To this day, I can't figure out what I said. I'm extremely sensitive about racist language, being of mixed heritage. My family members have never perceived ethnic distinctions as a barrier to love.

I was a top contributor over there for years and I was instantly banned for 90 days for discussing Patreon content once. Never been banned or had issues before. Apologized sincerely, said I wouldn't do it again, asked if the ban could be shortened given my good track record on the sub. Got an aggressive response about "blaming mods for my own negligence" (I wasn't?)

I suspect it's one particular mod, so I hope they get this message: banning longtime contributors for months over one-time offenses is not going to improve your sub. The sub did have a minorly annoying duplicate post problem, but other than that, it basically functioned pretty well and people didn't have major complaints. People didn't really care about nicknames or spoilers, which have for some reason been blown up into huge issues. Now many top contributors have been banned, and ironically, there's MORE shit content because inexperienced posters or first time viewers are completely filling in that void. Not surprised to hear a similar thing happened to u/Brianas-Living-Room. They've also been posting there for a long time.

I appreciate that the mod is trying to improve the sub, and I realize it can be stressful and unrewarding. Longtime contributors would be happy to help you and offer advice, but we can't do that if we're banned for months for a singular offense.

I got permabanned for a hilarious joke! Also the mod is a bitch who runs a snark page but won’t let people say anything without a scolding and muting you! I left the group cuz I seriously have it out for the mod, and 100% believe she has a Karen hair cut and sells candles!!

They have a post that repeats every day about their rules. On it, it literally says, “if you have any questions, please send us a modmail. We usually respond quickly.” Then, “Again, send modmail for any questions. We are here for you.” We are here for you so, I sent them a question about their rules. Literally a question about their rules. No answer. Eleven days later, I said, “thanks for the reply”, I got a near immediate ban from modmail for 28 days, which by the way, is the longest duration they can ban you for. It’s 3, 7 or 28 days. These psychos choose 28 days because they refuse to clarify their rules.

Let me tell you about THIS SUB to compare. I made my second post, and after a few hours, it was removed. I didn’t understand why, and was terrified to ask because of the way I was treated in the other sub. I sucked it up and asked anyway. I got a very fast, kind reply that explained to me what was going on with the post, and that there were only so many choices they have to select as the reason why they’re removing it, which was why the reason didn’t seem to make sense. I thanked the mod very much, and they told me to have a great night. It was the most pleasant experience .

I was pretty active on that sub since I started watching again during the pandemic. It was a great outlet for me in lockdown.

But someone's trippin' over there. I've ALWAYS related personal stories that are similar on the show. Isn't that what people do? (ie. Relate to Meri simply because I too am 52 and single, or to Leon to a degree bc I am an only child so I get that mom child dynamic)

I specifically mentioned Christine's concern re: Gwen moving into Garrison's place with Gabe, and kind of fleshed out why she might be concerned.

I got fucking banned for talking politics, relating how that has/hasn't been a complication in my own life (this is a sub about Sister Wives, not you or politics... I was specifically talking about it as it relates to the show), and get this FOR ASSUMING THAT GABE AND GARRISON WERE GOP.

Well I sure as fuck know it isn't GWEN!

Oh, I got banned for 14 days but it was never lifted (I was curious) and I was muted with a "get your own sub and mod that". Funny thing is, I AM A MOD. Our sub is extremely quiet and small, but I've gone over the mod code of conduct.

So while I am not a Mod here - I'm gonna caution everyone... make the mods life easier here. Do NOT NOT NOT go over there to troll them or tag anyone here from over there that may be the problematic mod, etc. If you've been banned once over there - I suggest you just unjoin and leave it to die a natural death, because if you get banned again - it might raise flags to the REDDIT admins, and you don't want to get shadow banned, or suspended. We don't want THIS sub to get into trouble.

Here are the Mod Code of Conducts... the mods over there are skating on thin ice, IMHO. Let them do themselves in and just enjoy this sub.

I was at the point that Meri and Leon were pushing for Leon to go to an expensive college, BUT, I had not seen or heard that Leon had changed their pronouns or name yet, so I posted using their old name and pronouns. They took down the post(totally understandable) and then banned me for 30 days, again, understandable if they thought I was doing it out of hate. But when I messaged them back to explain that I simply didn't KNOW the story, they blocked me from messaging.

I referred to "her" and I was discussing Meri. Leon was mentioned in the post but I wasn't reference to Leon as her. I messaged the mods and was told they've posted about transphobia enough and I should know. It was amusing because my post obviously wasn't read properly. 🙄

Honestly, even if you were fully caught up on all the seasons, you wouldnt know about Leons name or pronouns. Because the only time they are mentioned in the show this season its with deadname and wrong pronouns too.

People only know if they follow outside the show or someone corrects them in a post or sub.

Edit to clarify: You meant to mods at TLCSisterWives, right? Cause your title just says SisterWives and thats THIS sub.😉

Also, if you DO mean the TLC one, yes, i have never seen a single good thing said about the mods actions or attitudes. I am eternally grateful when i searched Sister Wives on reddit for a sub to scream into the void that is this show with, THIS sub popped up at the top of the list!

I got banned last week for sharing a personal story to another member who was struggling with something similar. Something that's been perfectly ok and acceptable for the entire time I've been a member. (Since season 1.) When I sent a message, I was told "no one cares about...insert personal story. I mod several different groups, they're rude and unprofessional, and whoever is now running things is going to run it into the ground before the show ends. There aren't enough seasons left for me to want to deal with that sorta bullshit just to stay a member until it's over.

Now I'm spending a long amount of time deleting every post and comment I've ever made. I'm a petty, petty bitch.

Yeah they banned me in literally less than 1 minute due to a mistake. I typed Leon but accidentally said ‘she’ in the few sentences I wrote. I did say ‘they’ a few times but I slipped once. I went back in to correct it after rereading once it posted and I was already banned and it wasn’t intentional or snark.

That sub has strange mods. I was banned for 365 days for rule 11, or what used to be rule 11, about posting paid content. Except it wasn’t paid content. And when I pointed that out, they simply wrote back and said the post was removed, and again I was banned for a year.

I was on r/korea. A post popped up saying that a particular subway station "had a lot of dirty foreigners there". I commented that I thought that sounded pretty racist and zenophobic. I was instantly perma banned with no explanation. I wrote the mods to ask why I was banned and got the 28 day suspension from asking anything of the mods.

Turned out it was a mod of that sub who is the crazy racist that hates foreigners who wrote the post and bans people right and left if they say anything about his zenophobic posts. Some mods on some subs are just batshit crazy. Luckily, there are a lot of good mods around.

Don't feel bad they banned me also because I was posting comments that one person did not agree with. I was being snarky and someone messaged me about who I was and how dare I post on that sub. A few days later I got banned and I let it go. That sub is lame and all they did was take every post that was on here and put it on that sub. It is poorly moderated and they forget that it is Reddit and it is a snark sub. It is hardly worth getting upset over since they are their own worst enemies.

I got banned FOR LIFE from the MBFFL sub. Don’t know why, don’t care enough to ask them. Just a vague against community rules. This mod thing is a FR power trip. People NEED to understand that in the entirety of human civilization this is pretty new. People are learning. We're trying. We aren't going to be perfect overnight, there will be slips , there will be ignorance. We have to allow grace for those who are not being intentionally rude, hateful and disrespectful. There needs to be room in the discussion for stupid questions or unintentionally dumb comments, so we can educate and be educated on how to be better. There is a significant difference between someone being intentionally hateful and someone who is unintentionally ignorant. Being ignorant isn't completely bad, it means you don't know. Being unwilling to learn is bad.

Good on you for being willing and open. I hope you can find openness here. I got a post removed because I was trying to ask something about the timeline of the transition and used Leon's previous name in quotations just to signify the point in the timeline so it wasnt confusing, not deadnaming but I was pretty jumped on and it was deleted. Not much room for conversation. So best of luck!

This happened to me almost two years ago. I used the wrong pronoun for Leon (I also wasn't aware, my mistake).

I had been in the ER with a family member that night, so I hadn't been looking at my phone-- when I got to chance to check Reddit, I saw that I had been banned for life!!

They're insane over there.
