I don't hate Litecoin - I have it in my portfolio and I often use it to transfer funds between exchanges.

The Reddit community isn't overly bullish on LTC, and this has a few solid reasons as well: First of all is the entire idea of "lightweight coins" becoming a little bit less important thanks to L2 solutions, and Litecoin also didn't perform as strong as BTC and ETH (when comparing ATHs of the both last cycles).

Many (like me) still respect LTC as one of the oldest cryptos though.

I don't hate it but I'm just not excited about it at all. It does what it does well but I look at things from a mainly investment perspective.

LTC is down over 85% against Bitcoin since April 2013 which is as far as I can go. That's 10 years of underperformance. I just don't see a reason to hold it.

Just my opinion. Don't crucify me.

We are up 60% in 6 months and it started during the greatest period of fear. When things got scary Litecoin was looked to as steady, trustworthy, and safe. I think we are good now.

I don’t hate litecoin but the risk adjusted return for it compared to BTC doesn’t make it an attractive investment for me. Yes it performs well leading up to and around the halving but generally speaking it typically just loses value in its LTC/BTC pair over the long term.

This isn’t a LTC thing this is an altcoin thing. If I’m taking on more risk and the coin is performing worse than BTC over the long term it doesn’t make any sense to hold it.

LTC is my top go to coin when I want to transfer funds outside / between exchanges. Low fees and fast, I don’t think there is anything to hate here. And it has been around more than most meme coins you can find nowadays.

I'll tell you why average cryptobros hate Litecoin

It's old
It doesn't have a dog on its logo
You can't "stake" it for double digit "rewards"
It's kind of slow
It's price is very unlikely to skyrocket (like 100x or something)

However, they don't seem to notice

It's reliable, with 100% uptime in years of running
It's very descentralised
It's extremely cheap
It's aiming to increase privacy (Mimblewimble update is a huge step)
It has been around for a while, and probably will be around forever
It simply works. Does it job. A lot of new tokens seems to fail here (the most important point I know. How ironic)

Love LTC, while it's so sad that it's generaly underperforming, and has been bleeding against bitcoin, it's one of the only altcoins that at least has good fundamentals, uptime, and real use.
LTC is a safe bet, may be boring for some people out there, but has been around for all that time, and is here to stay.
I still belive and hope it's a sleeping giant, it may not be the shiny new coin, but it's a shiny coin to me.

I think it’s just tribalism, mostly from maxis of one form or another. I think it’s solid, I’ve done well swing trading it back and forth and I think it has a very high chance of continuing to stay relevant into the future.

Pretty obvious, people's sentiment to a coin just follows price. This sub hated litecoin for years because of its poor price performance compared with other coins, every mention of litecoin would get downvoted. The sentiment started to change during the bear market when tons of people got rugpulled and started to search for safety.

Litecoin is similar to XLM and BAT to me. It's a utility coin and I use it for its utility - sending secure financial transactions.

I use BTC and LTC for my largest payments, based on what my contractors want.

I use XLM to transfer between exchanges.

I use BAT to tip creators.

Not everything needs to be a HODL monster.

Love LTC. But one thing that drives me up the wall is when Bitcoin bleeds a little, LTC tends to bleed a lot. The coin should actually be much higher based on where BTC’s price is currently.

When Charlie Lee dumped his bag in Dec '17 I sold all of my LTC with him...but tbh I always thought LTC had a ton of potential as a more useable fork of BTC.

I held it for a very long time and my first post in this subreddit (now deleted) was me asking whether I should sell it or not. It's been under performing compared to any other coin I held, including BTC.

So finally I sold it for BTC. Their privacy updates looked promising. Not sure yet if I'll get into it again.

LTC didn’t move in a parabolic fashion like a lot of upstart ETH copycat cryptocurrencies that have the capability of smart contracts, dApps, etc… So people bad mouthed it two years ago. And let’s be honest, that will be a new tech that changes the world.

Litecoin is steady, reliable, and does what it was made for, to move funds. BTC stores value, but LTC moves money.
