To commentate, yes.

[–]36_foxtrotApril 12: National fuck you Conor day[S] 50 points51 points  (11 children)

Thanks. I was getting real confused

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (10 children)

Would that be strange anyway? She did get cut

[–]mikec565 51 points52 points  (5 children)

She didn't get cut. She fought off her last fight on her contract. She has yet to renew it with the UFC.

[–]BioRunner03 16 points17 points  (3 children)

Most fighters that the UFC actually wants sign an extension before the last fight on their contract. It's very rare for someone to fight out their contract without leaving.

[–]Hiviel#SnapDownCityBitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The problem is who should she fight at 145? Nunes again just because nobody else there?

[–]mikec565 1 point2 points  (1 child)

this response is absolutely useless to the conversation we are having. The bottom line is, Meghan wasnt cut. She fought off her last fight. Rare or not. I dont understand the point you are making. Not every fighter KNOWS they want to resign with the UFC. They check their value elsewhere after.

[–]BioRunner03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is when the UFC wants to get rid of someone they generally don't just straight up cut them. They'll feed them to some killer on the last fight of their contract just to build the name value up of that fighter. It's rare that you ever see the UFC cutting someone straight up like Diego Sanchez. That doesn't mean that there isn't fighters they want to get rid of though.

In Anderson's case it's highly unlikely that it's a scenario of her wanting to test her value vs the UFC wanting to get rid of her. They don't even want to keep the division she's fighting in. They couldn't even be bothered to even put it on their website lmao.

Hahaha

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (3 children)

It would be a step back for her. A parallel move like going to Bellator, or ONE would've made more sense. She could've gotten that Cyborg match she kept asking for when they were both in Invicta.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (2 children)

Does she want to die

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for her

[–]M4TTHUN 81 points82 points  (17 children)

She is doing interviews and commentary maybe. I'm not even sure if she ever fights again.

[–]wubbalubbadubdub45oink oink motherfucker 29 points30 points  (7 children)

she can go to bellator and get a big payday to fight cyborg

[–]titoscoachspeecherConor is Lightweight GOAT 66 points67 points  (6 children)

and prob use that money to try and recover from the CTE she'll get.

[–]wubbalubbadubdub45oink oink motherfucker 25 points26 points  (5 children)

she could go the bob sapp route and just lay down to avoid any serious damage for the big payday.

[–]titoscoachspeecherConor is Lightweight GOAT 16 points17 points  (3 children)

True, or she could go the Gabby Garcia route and fight people half her size. The japanese love a good waifu story.

[–]3hree9ine4our 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Except you can actually look at Anderson without your dick shriveling up.

[–]wubbalubbadubdub45oink oink motherfucker 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Anderson vs cup noodle man to headline the NYE rizin show

Cup O'Noodles takes it via D'Arce in the 2nd round.

[–]NeverEndingHellStaring Into The Eyes of Medusa 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I could see Megan doing a one off fight here or there but her future in the sport (as a competitor) doesn’t look great.

She has a decent social media presence, can keep doing Twitch streams and modeling, has a great voice for commentary, etc.

So no lack of options, she’ll be fine.

[–]CrabSauceCrissCrossIndia 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I hope not. I really thought she would be a killer back in her Invicta run and as far as puncher's chances go, I though she had a small chance of doing something to Nunes. That performance was just the worst thing I've seen at the championship level though.

[–]MenWhoStareatGoatse_whatever feels right 0 points1 point  (1 child)

She could not have put up any kind of performance that would have made a difference. Nunes is that much better than her.

This may sound like an indictment of your opinion, but I don't mean it that way. I thought it should have been obvious to everyone that she was not very skilled. The hype about her never made much sense to me. Maybe people just wanted a credible opponent for Nunes/Cyborg so they imagined one up.

[–]CrabSauceCrissCrossIndia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nunes is obviously way better than her and everyone knew it going into the fight, that's why I literally said "as far as a puncher's chance goes". I didn't expect her to win but she had one moment where she looked like a competent fighter and then literally froze after taking one hit and went for a terrible takedown attempt. Regardless of her low chances, that was the worst performance I've seen in a championship fight (in the UFC?.

[–]OutlawOscarBig ol’ Mexican with a big ol’ head -1 points0 points  (4 children)

At least she got that Twitch Partner status via her short UFC career. She can live off of that currently.

They have access to things like “bounties” where for example you can get paid $10k for playing some random mobile game on stream for 2 hours. Sounds like a great source of income if you have Partner status and really enjoy video games.

[–]epicfishboy☠️ 👀 Adding professional virgin to my CV 30 points31 points  (3 children)

Twitch bounties are not paying someone of her channels size anywhere close to 10k. Divide by 100 maybe and you'd be closer.

Companies that use twitch to advertise and that pay even a 10th of that much are going directly to the streamers they actually want via their agents/orgs.

[–]OutlawOscarBig ol’ Mexican with a big ol’ head 15 points16 points  (1 child)

You’re right. If she was making that type of money she wouldn’t be doing invicta interviews. Hopefully she does one day.

[–]MenWhoStareatGoatse_whatever feels right 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right. I haven't seen her channel but I trust it's practically empty. Holloway and O'Malley barely break 150 concurrent viewers, and one is a top 2 all time FW and the other is an exciting talent with a knack for getting people's attention.

[–]kcDemonSlayer 23 points24 points  (1 child)

waited so long for her to fight in the UFC, since before the featherweights even existed and she was campaigning to fight Cyborg in 1st match. Then she gets a title shot against Nunes and looks like she’s never been in a fight. Sad, still like her weigh-in pics tho.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly.

[–]DecentTop1084 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She's doing commentary iirc

[–]HeebmeisterYou have to take safe your brain 44 points45 points  (29 children)

Kind of surprised she's not being kept around as a warm body for future 145 ers to fight if they want to somehow keep the division going.

[–]adambuddySokoudjou Fanboy 49 points50 points  (4 children)

if they want to somehow keep the division going.

They don't. If they wanted they could build a division.

[–]_Red_Mist_Famous Doubter of Our Tommy A 🇬🇧🇬🇧 26 points27 points  (3 children)

With who? PFL can’t even find enough soccer moms for their division. They had BWs Sarah Kaufman and Larissa Pacheco last year. WFW/WLW quality is worse than regional HW.

[–]wakenbake7I'm Jon's dick pill guy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

People just like to rail on the UFC completely ignoring the fact they built a division solely to house cyborg, always bring in the best 145ers that come up outside the ufc only foe Cyborg to get devastated by Amanda nunez who is a 135er that has been in the ufc the whole time. There just isn’t that much high level talent in the heavier women’s divisions.

[–]dudemanwhoaI mean rizin im not gay 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Isn't PFL doing 155? If talent is hard to find at 145, imagine how bad it is at 155. How many women in the world who, if they got to an MMA fighter bf% and did a moderate weight cut couldn't make 145? Not all that many. It's like adding a men's 265+, your pool of people that can't make 265 after giving it a good effort are very few.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

145 is what you're describing.

[–]imsurethisoneistakenLikes it raw in dat ass 18 points19 points  (20 children)

They don't tho. They have done almost nothing to sign 145ers to build the division, but where are they even going to sign them from? Even Invicta has like 9 FWs total, all of which aren't exactly lighting up the place. This division was created for Cyborg to fight in the UFC and then became the "just another resume bullet for Amanda" division.

[–]HeebmeisterYou have to take safe your brain 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Dana loves Amanda so much for knocking Cyborg the fuck out that I guess hes willing to go through with this charade for her otherwise he would have confirmed it's closed by now.

[–]kjhwkejhkhdsfkjhsdkfÉirel O'Helwani 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kind of surprised she's not being kept around as a warm body for future 145 ers to fight if they want to somehow keep the division going.

She basically is. Unless something changed, the UFC pulls fighters from Invicta as needed, and sends them back down if they don't perform.

Angela Hill came to the UFC, then got sent to Invicta after going 1-2, won the belt in Invicta, and came back to the UFC.

So if things are the same, it doesn't really change her availability.

Edit: Nevermind, looks like she's doing commentary, but point still applies about the two promotions.

[–]El_muscely_beardo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A warm body you say👀

[–]dmkicksballs13Impudent Lout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had to try intensely just to get her to a title shot. I'm sure they just bailed because. No one looks good beating her and she's not getting another shot anayway.

[–]InsaneTechNY 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It says it right on her page she is doing an upcoming invicta commentary gig.

[–]JanitorJasperMystic Janitor 13 points14 points  (4 children)

Flamenco guitar riff

[–]Mr_Glock17 15 points16 points  (7 children)

She should, im sure I will get downvoted but talent wise she doesn't belong in the UFC

[–]procouchpotatohereUnited States -2 points-1 points  (5 children)

A person who's 3-3 and one of those losses being against Nunes doesn't belong in the UFC?

[–]SpecialSauseUFC 279: A GOOFCON Miracle 1 point2 points  (1 child)

One of those losses was to Felicia Spencer. Let that sink in.

[–]procouchpotatohereUnited States -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You mean the girl that has only lost to Cyborg and Nunes, 2 of the greatest female mma fighters ever, and is otherwise undefeated?

[–]Mr_Glock17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is ass

[–]tags33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those glasses are so big lol

[–]OpiateLover209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised if she went back to invicta to fight as well. As long as Amanda is alive she has no chance in the ufc.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did she get cut already

[–]ikilledtupac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well she’s not returning to the UFC

[–]Wallyworld77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she moved over to Invicta she's taking the entire UFC womans Featherweight Division with her.

[–]squidsofanarchyTeam Lava Shack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She should jump to PFL for the next season. She’s got the physical tools, but the UFC was a little much for her, and imo Kayla Harrison is a much smaller mountain to climb than either Nunes or Cyborg.
