The Atlanta Hawks were considered the team with the most trade interest in Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam over the summer.

While talks for Siakam centered around De’Andre Hunter, AJ Griffin, and draft pick compensation never materialized, there was a young player the Hawks didn’t want to include that’s worth noting should the teams revisit trade discussions.

The Hawks were unwilling to part with rookie guard Kobe Bufkin in trade talks for Siakam, league sources told HoopsHype. Coach Quin Snyder is said to be high on the former Michigan guard, who averaged 19.3 points on 51.9 percent shooting overall and 45 percent from beyond the arc with 5.6 rebounds in his final eight games as a Wolverine.

Kobe Bufkin at 12?

I am really high on Kobe Bufkin, and I think that he doesn't fit anywhere higher than 12, so do you think Bufkin would be good as a 6th or 7th man on the Thunder, instead of them picking a project like Bilal Coulibaly?

From an overall good article from John Hollinger discussing the Hawks. He doesn’t have anything new about other trade rumours, but it is interesting that the Hawks seem very high on Bufkin, making him untouchable in trade discussions.

Anthony Black or Kobe Bufkin?

Spurs are rumored to be very active leading up to the draft next week and Black and Bufkin have been linked by NBA scouts as possible targets. Between these two choices, who would you rather prefer? I like the defensive fit with Black but worry about the spacing. Bufkin offensively could really help but he’s more of a combo guard than a point guard.

It’s that time of year where Hawks sneak into playoffs! Next game is vs Chicago tomorrow. I see light at the end of the tunnel. Goal for me is getting to .500, it’s very much achievable. Not impossible by end of the month.

Thanks everyone for sharing your time on this sub, it’s a lot of fun. I really just want to enjoy whatever time we have with this team: it won’t be long till the offseason

Thoughts on Kobe Bufkin?

I’m a raptors fan and we’ll probably have the 13 pick which is around the area he’s mostly mocked at. We’re in dire need of guard play and I just love his game. I’m no expert on analyzing nba talent or any of that, but it seems like he’s a jack of all trades and doesn’t have any glaring weaknesses to his game. Really hoping the raptors can get someone like him on their squad for next year. If we pick him at 13 would that be good value for the 13th pick? Or are there better options?
