I agree with you about #2. Although monochrome isn't my preference, I really like #9 and #12 also. They capture the action well.

I've got so many pictures that I took with my old Canon DSLR with a giant, cheap lens from when I lived in Detroit and went to Pistons games. Now I can't bring anything other than a cell phone into Bulls games in Chicago. :(

There's a higher amount of good shots this time around. Did you feel a difference shooting? This set seemed more focused and goal oriented to me.

To be honest I was tough on my self after this set, I felt like I didn’t really nail any “great” shots in my opinion. It could be from shooting the games more often, it feels like a lot of the same shots/angles are in my camera roll when I’m done. I’m learning to look for more emotion when shooting and that’s what I was trying to nail with this set. The feedback I’ve been receiving is something I’ve been grateful for 🙏🏾

It could feel that way because you're now working with a vision. Sometimes that frustration is sign of personal progress and developing an eye. There will eb a time when it just snaps in place and you're producing better, and feeling good with it also. Then the whole process starts again. ✌️

Incredible photos, colors, everything! I wish more teams instagrams posted photos like these instead of those “editorial” sports shots. I really like the more “lifestyle” look of these. Not sure if that’s the right term haha

Tried to bring my X-T5 with a 23mm prime lens into the Bulls game tonight and they wouldn't let me in because I had a "professional camera." My seats were the last row in the nosebleeds. What the hell did they think I was going to do?!

Does your RAW processor have hot pixel detection? Your camera has some hot pixels (which is common) and turning on the hot pixel detection can clean up a small amount of extra noise.

Thank you for that tip! I'm not sure if my processor has one, but I’ll look into it. I've been contemplating getting a new camera because of it, I feel like this one is about done 😂

darktable handles it well.

It also has better noise reduction and demosaicing that avoids the eye colour bleed and bokeh worms.

And best of all, it's Free and Open Source Software.

Always a bit of a pain to change workflows, but I find it gets great results, especially with the new inpaint opposed highlight recovery and sigmoid tools.

I wrote this post about the workflow a while ago. I'd simplify it at this stage to just:

  1. Correct exposure in the exposure module
  2. Adjust white balance in the color calibration module
  3. Set your contrast and skew in the sigmoid module (determines how much of the dynamic range is used by the highlights vs. the shadows)
  4. Retouch (if desired) with the retouch module
  5. Dodge and burn (if desired) with the tone equalizer module
  6. Grade your colours with the Color Balance RGB module
  7. Pick a LUT (if desired) with the lut 3D module
