I don't know, I personally think NFTs are pretty dumb but that might be because my perception of them and their uses is limited.

proving that you own the only legal copy of digital art is pretty stupid for anyone that isn't seeking to make money off it. Nobody on reddit or any other content aggregator needs to prove that they're the original owner unless it's relevant. If it's digital then unlimited copies can be made by anyone for any purpose, it doesn't truly matter who the owner is for purposes of sharing and viewing it.

so as far as art goes the only thing it seems useful for is making money, easier assistance in money laundering and tax evasion, and proving ownership in legal battles like dmca claims and such.

having an nft tied to a physical asset could be interesting, instead of relying on paper titles and deeds and a government to recognize and store that information it could all be publicly available on a blockchain. Enforcement of ownership would still depend on the government unless you're going to defend your property yourself though. There's also the problem of just because someone says that an NFT is tied to ownership of a physical object, it's still not physically connected it's just kind of a trust system.
