Acid jazz bands? I'm starting into this genre?

I like Latin jazz, funky, blues, etc... But someone recommend me "Collective Groove" so here I am, which other bands should I listen.

Context, I'm a drummer, and I got an invitation to auditioning to an acid jazz band.

What are your thoughts on Acid Jazz?

I’m asking because I’ve been getting into some artists such as Incognito and Jamiroquai lately. Furthermore, I wonder if such artists are even spoken with high regard within the jazz community at all. I’m new to this subreddit and trying to connect with likeminded individuals who are also passionate about jazz because no other teenagers seem to take much interest in it irl.

Edit: Jesus Christ…I didn’t expect this post to blow up so much. I’m not used to having people on Reddit caring this much for what I have to say, so thank you so much for your support!

…..over 100 upvotes!!!!! I can’t believe you guys 🥺😭

[QUESTION] I just joined an acid jazz band. Now what?

I am now a guitarist in my friend's acid jazz band. But here's the thing. I know absolutely nothing about acid jazz. What does an acid jazz guitarist need to know?

TWICE Needs To Do More Funk/Acid Jazz

After Killin’ Me Good, I’ve realised that the most artistic songs that TWICE have had are their funk and psychedelic songs. Examples of this are ‘Basics’, ‘Up No More’ on the psych side and ‘Moonlight’, ‘FILA’, ‘Scandal’ on the funk side. However, I wish that Set Me Free took more inspirations from funk as the instrumentals seem a bit flat compared to some of their other songs.

One, JYP is a pretty good composer when it comes to funk, so it would synergise very well together with the group.

Two, the group seems to love funk and psychedelic music and acid jazz is kinda a mixture of both. It seems like a good evolution musical wise.

This seems really unpopular because I haven’t really heard about TWICE talking about their evolution music wise and how else they can evolve as artists. Additionally, I feel I haven’t heard a JYP composed song in a few years, so I’d definitely like to hear one
