I can’t remember what happens in the movie but in the books, after Harry has Sectumsempra’d the heck out of Draco, Snape commands Harry to fetch him his book bag after using it’s implied he used occlumency to see inside Harry’s mind. Why didn’t he just summon the bag and book to him there? I know we wouldn’t get the infamous ‘it’s my nickname’ line but was it because he was taking Draco to the hospital wing? He should have just told him to wait there and returned with the accio’d books. Am I missing something?

I'm re-reading the books and I'm on DH now - I realized the most relatable thing in all 7 books is Harry using Accio to retrieve his glasses from a foot away the minute he realized he was 17. 100% I would do the same.

What are the limits of the Accio spell?

I want to know if I can Accio the Hogwarts Express and break the Statute of Secrecy like it's glass. Or maybe I can Accio Voldemort's spine and kill him that way.

What is and isn't Accio-able?

Ok, so Accio is a summoning spell, but what would happen if you tried to summon something too heavy or too large to move? In my fan fiction fantasy, I like to think that your wand would fly towards the location instead of the location flying towards you; and if you held on tight enough, you could essentially use Accio as a means of travel.

Any thoughts?

How did you first pronounce ‘accio’ when you read it?

In the films they say (ah-kee-oh), I believe Stephen Fry says (ak-see-oh) in the audiobooks.

When I first read it I always thought it would be like Gucci - (ah-chi-oh) 😂 it could even be (ah-see-oh).

Did anyone else think it would be pronounced differently?

Accio Hagrid!

I was going over the audiobooks again and today it came to this. I can't resist laughing out loud. It's so hilarious despite all the chaos and seemingly action-packed scene. It seems somewhat like intentional humor to me. I guess this must have been mentioned, but anyone share the same feeling?

Follow up questions:

Would it be a more demanding thing than say Accio coffee cup when you're next to it, hence the need for a powerful wizard?

Would there be unexpected consequences like a fuck ton of plastic suddenly appearing over your head?

Why aren't more wizards vocal and active in the environment crisis?

Re-reading the seventh book. The scene when Ted fetches a fish from the nearby river with "Accio Salmon." Poor fish. They don't stand a chance.

[Harry Potter] What are the limits to the accio spell?

Are there limits to weight and distance? Does the wizard's magical power play a role? We've seen wizards and witches summon objects from huge distances. The only failures we really see are when items are guarded magically.

Accio that pinot noir I like from Chile? Accio elephant? Accio statue of liberty? Accio oil tanker? Accio moon?
