I get Nesmith has this weird “vendetta” against the Celtics but at a certain point, the shit gets really corny and annoying. Sure, we traded you for “paper clips” but that’s all you were worth at the time. I like him as a player but the antics off the court, specifically the anti-celtics junk, is just in bad taste. Brad gave you an opportunity and when you FAILED……he traded you to a team that could afford to develop you! Again, like him as a player, but just hate the antics since his trade…anyone else??!
Aaron Nesmith
Aaron Nesmith has had a stellar year to this point and I'm not suggesting this to be done this season, but given the amount of gravity we've lost in trading Buddy Hield, do you think Aaron Nesmith could step into a good chunk of those actions that were run for Hield?
Granted Nesmith is shooting a higher % than Hield, but we have to take into account the difficulty in the looks and the volume of shots. Nesmith seems to have a solid instinct moving without the ball and a good set shot, but do you think he can keep a good clip with more movement and 3pt attempts?
With the 14th pick in the draft, the Boston Celtics select Aaron Nesmith, a sophomore from Vanderbilt.
I’ve always liked Aaron, but this year has been something special for him. He’s developed into one of the most reliable 3 point shooters we have, and his ability to drive has had him forcing in tough shots when we need them and throwing down some incredible dunks. Let’s not even get started on his defense and how much it has helped us. He has really come into his own this year and has transformed from 3&D to an all around great player and integral piece to this Indiana roster. I can easily see him being our go to option for the 3 on a contending team.
Nesmith has become my favorite player to watch on this Pacers team (which is saying a lot) and I couldn’t be happier we signed him to stay long term.
Earlier this season when OG was in trade rumors there were some rumblings as to whether Nesmith could get on his level instead of trading for him. Here's how they stack up this season statistically.
Pretty similar stats but I still think OG is clearly better because of how good he is defensively; however, the drop-off big picture-wise isn't quite as bad once you consider:
-
Age: Nesmith is 2 years younger
-
Money: Nesmith is cheaper at 3/33M vs whatever OG gets this summer
-
Durability: OG has had trouble staying on the court the last few years
Hey guys, Pacers fan here. What can you guys tell me about Aaron Nesmith? He’ll probably play a lot for us due to the fact that we’re rebuilding. Happy that Brogdon is going to a title contender. Enjoy him
Dude needs to start at SF, no idea when Carlisle is going to give him that opportunity, but it needs to happen soon. I'd also love to see his 4 x 3pt attempts a game jump up to 6 x 3pt attempts.
I don't really care who he replaces out of Brown or Hield.
Apologies if this has been addressed already but has anyone heard anything about Nesmith’s injury? Did they ever say anything about the results of his MRI?
Just wanted to spark some discussion regarding Nesmith. What do you think he can do to take his game to the next level? What has impressed you most? What are his biggest weaknesses currently? He is a very fun player to watch.
In an “embarrassment of riches” situation, I feel like Nesmith is quietly one of our most important players. I see no reason he couldn’t grow into an OG Anunoby type, with a better 3-ball. Yeah, he’s definitely streaky, but outside of Haliburton and Siakam, most others on the team are. But I wouldn’t be mad seeing him get a couple extra 3s off each night.
There. I said it. The gap between Aaron and the other young guys on our squad is expanding game by game. The Celtics would be nigh unstoppable with him on their current roster. Ainge knew exactly what he was doing when he drafted him. You may still be of the opinion that others with a sexier pedigree or draft position will surpass him and indeed someday they might, but I'm not. Not anymore. Aaron is him.
