Not exactly. When Team Cherry first made Hollow Knight, they focused on making it work on PC first. But they did have a kickstarter stretch goal about porting the game to the Wii U. And that was going to be the only console port because as a small team, they couldn’t justify stretching themselves out thin tweaking the game to work on every platform. But since the Wii U shat the bed, they moved over development to the Switch. And that move was smart as hell, because it sold really well. Eventually the team got enough support to push other ports of the game and the rest is history. I think they struck a deal with Nintendo in terms of marketing rights for Silksong. The same way PlayStation has those “plays better on PS” commercials using COD.
