Is De Gea up there with Peter Schmeichel and Edwin Van Der Sar yet?

It was a very tight discussion as I remember of who's the best goalkeeper in MU history, and I've sided reluctantly with Van Der Sar then.

But since then, De Gea was a bit of a dramatic complex story.

On one hand, he'd played for a very long time, many clean sheets, superb performances that won us loads and loads of points (especially in our worse situations) & as a goalkeeper, his close-range saves far exceeds anyone I know IMO. He is not very good with crosses or handling balls that are played from far away (and need his intervention) like PM, He is not a playmaker and a genius leader who is like a coach inside the pitch like Van Der Saar, but boy, the reflexes of DDG is out of this world, he is a cat-ninja that can leave you in awe wondering for the rest of the game "How did he do that?", and he can do that even up to 5 times a game in his peak as well.

On the other hand, as I said, he has weakness (although, who hasn't?). But most noticeably, he wasn't lucky enough to be in a team the wins trophies constantly, because if he did, he'll be easily recognized as one of the best goalkeepers now and in history by every media there is (even if he did less than he did so far). I see him as a victim of a bad era that United had after SAF. It may be an unpopular opinion, but he IS one of the best of the best goalkeepers in all of football's history, just like VDS and PS, Neuer, Cech, Lyv Yashin, Buffon, Casillas, Buffon, Oliver Kahn, Chilavert, Zoff, etc...

Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar: "It feels weird that reaching the UCL semifinals and winning both the Dutch title and cup has less value than finishing 4th in a top competition. Top clubs in mid-sized leagues (Celtic, Ajax) shouldn't just be reliant on their country's coefficient."
