Gaga would dismiss basic lunchtime etiquette, singing "Wicked" at the top of her lungs while on the piano as others tried to eat in peace... every single day.

tbf all theater kids did this in school

[–]HMSArcturus 1505 points1506 points  (48 children)

Former theater kid, can confirm. Most fond theater kid memories of being at a Denny's after a show is basically this for the staff.

[–]emptytheprisons 566 points567 points  (15 children)

It was Friendly's for my high school theater department. I wish I could find the servers we tortured with unwanted micro performances and tip them extra 20 years later 🥴

(We tipped well at the time... it just could never be enough)

[–]HMSArcturus 320 points321 points  (5 children)

It was Waffle House for us lol. Those servers are definitely entitled to financial compensation 😭

[–]hysterical_uterus 127 points128 points  (0 children)

The employees of Waffle House aren’t paid enough as it is, and then they had to experience us

[–]khaleesiofkitties 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Applebees for us. The amount of boneless honey bbq wings they made on those nights bc of us should have been illegal.

[–]raphaellaskiesit feels like a movie 117 points118 points  (2 children)

We started singing along to Let'sHear It For The Boy when it came on the radio at Jack Astor's and they turned the music off. 😭

[–]emptytheprisons 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Solidarity with the Jack Astor's staff ✊

[–]nita5766bella hadid’s baby birkin 38 points39 points  (0 children)

jack astor’s staff said not today.

[–]lld287 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Co-signing to this. I was singing in international touring choirs starting at age 9, performed in operas, musical theater, all that shit… I was probably one of the less annoying people (I had zero interest in ever playing the lead if that tells you anything 😂), but I was still just as guilty of belting out show tunes as anyone haha

[–]allycakes 44 points45 points  (1 child)

It was Steak and Shake at my school that usually ended with people putting a bunch of gross things in the dregs of a leftover milkshake and daring someone to drink it.

[–]Nakahashi2123 24 points25 points  (0 children)

We did Steak and Shake too. The staff usually got fed up with a bunch of teenagers who barely could afford their food let alone tip well enough to justify letting them stay and be loud, so we usually ended up out in the parking lot sitting on curbs and enjoying the shit out of ourselves.

[–]SuccessfulSchedule54 26 points27 points  (0 children)

IHOP for us

[–]KawaiiCoupon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Friendly’s here too. Those poor staff members… 😂

[–][deleted] 214 points215 points  (12 children)

not a theater kid, but I did mock trial which was basically if theater kids did courtroom dramas and were law nerds.

we terrorized our local Chili’s after tournaments, subjecting the wait staff to heated and loud discussions about the rules of evidence

[–]holyfrozenyogurtwomen’s wrongs activist 205 points206 points  (8 children)

Mock trial is for theatre kids who refuse to admit they’re theatre kids!!

  • theatre kid who does mock trial

[–][deleted] 62 points63 points  (7 children)

I wanted to be a theater kid but my parents wouldn’t let me :/ so I did mock trial instead!

[–]holyfrozenyogurtwomen’s wrongs activist 38 points39 points  (5 children)

Aw I’m sorry :( but mock trial is so fun!! I’m currently playing the defendant in this incredibly camp murder trial

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (1 child)

ugh I loved playing character witnesses back in my day, I was the only one on the team who could do a believable British accent so my coach always made me do that

now I’m a real lawyer and my real trials are (usually) not as campy lol

[–]tomsprigs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

do you still use the british accent ?

[–]BillieHolliday 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Lmao i’m sorry i’m sure it’s extra af but “incredibly camp” is just the wildest way to describe a murder 😂

[–]carlitospig 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And think about how great your performance would’ve been if you were on Suits! :D

[–]madestories 116 points117 points  (6 children)

Thank christ social media wasn’t invented when I was a theater kid.

[–]HMSArcturus 53 points54 points  (2 children)

Most of the evidence of my theater kid-ness has thankfully been wiped out due to xanga going lol

[–]paradise_pizza 23 points24 points  (0 children)

RIP my scene kid phase Lmao out with xanga

[–]Condition-Pleasant 16 points17 points  (1 child)

There's fb evidence of me playing West Side Story's Maria in brown face, at the insistence of my drama teacher. I guess I can never run for office now. 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]HereF0rTheSnacks 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Went to Ichiban for my birthday one year, hibachi style and the other people at the table were theatre/opera kids they sang the most in tune/theatrical happy birthday that has ever been sung to me. It was great.

[–][deleted] 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I went to college with and was in the same friend group as Dan Reynolds. We'd be chilling at this little cafe place with a sleepy vibe and he'd go and bang on the cafe's piano while wailing lyrics at the top of his lungs. I mean, the cafe did have the piano, but the loudness of it all was often just too much.

[–]quantumdreamqueenhigh priestess of child sacrifice 18 points19 points  (0 children)

APPLEBEES CAST PARTY 😻 lmao. We still do this as adults too, but in the early morning hours of diners and bars.

[–]Jewell84 13 points14 points  (4 children)

Local Diner in High School, Bennigans in College.

[–]Ludo_Fraaaaaannddd 11 points12 points  (3 children)

How I miss Bennigans. I lived for those chicken tenders and honey mustard

[–]BlueBirdie0 354 points355 points  (9 children)

IDK if my friend listened to the interview, or read an article, but she said Carly also slut shamed Gaga so it sounds like she had a bone to pick. Apparently she said some really gross, misogynistic shit about Gaga's clothing choices....which is kind of ironic considering she was on the Bachelor and people wear revealing clothes on it, too.

It's not in the TMZ article, because I think the "theater kids be annoying'" is probably catchier even if TMZ is usually sexist asf

[–]vulcan_vampireLarry I'm on DuckTales 284 points285 points  (5 children)

”She's so extra. She would wear these really tight leotards, and she had really big boobs back then, and her boobs were just like coming out. She's so ridiculous.”

Cleavage, you say?!

[–]Lilacly_Adily 45 points46 points  (2 children)

🤣 Although this reminds me of my all girls high school days. We had the choice of kilts or dress pants and while there were rules about kilt length, you could generally get away with rolling it up however high you wanted.

But ever so often someone would roll theirs up too much and you’d basically be getting flashed if you happened to be sitting on the ground eating lunch and they walked by.

[–]gingerfamilyphoto 19 points20 points  (1 child)

We all wore rolled soffe shorts under our rolled uniform skirts 😂

[–]RagnaNic 142 points143 points  (2 children)

Carly was annoying af on all of the Bachelor shows, so I'd take anything she says with a HUGE grain of salt.

[–]mac_bess 22 points23 points  (0 children)

she outwardly hated that girl Britt for absolutely no reason, which was funny bc after britt didn’t become the bachelorette, she stayed far away from the show unlike Carly.

[–]Time_Initiative9342chaos-bringer of humiliation and mockery 89 points90 points  (2 children)

BREAKING NEWS: Theatre kids are theatre kids.

[–]noods-danger-tits 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And this is tame. One time my friends and I did our full opening number to Once on this Island in the parking lot of a diner, dancing and all.

[–][deleted] 60 points61 points  (3 children)

it was always Wicked

[–]AggressivePie7830 46 points47 points  (0 children)

So she was Rachel Berry?

[–]paintdetownred 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I was just coming to comment this, and think it frequently when musicians or more "quirky" actors are called annoying or odd in school by old classmates. Like, you realise that they all have a minimum threshold of drama/choir/band kid energy in them even if they didn't participate in school.

[–]down_by_the_shore 31 points32 points  (1 child)

i read the headline and my first thought was "well yeah, she's one of the most successful theater nerds of our generation"

[–]kriscrossroads 32 points33 points  (2 children)

Was the piano…in the cafeteria?

[–]macabruhhhI already condemned Hamas 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Tenacity mixed with natural talent sounds exhausting and overbearing to be around (Rachel Barry flashbacks) but who cares in the grand scheme of things, especially when there are equally as annoying people, like regular theatre kids, who amounted to nothing extraordinary as well. I don’t like the idea that mega superstars should also be super chill and relatable, and that it’s a problem when they aren’t. Unless she’s going around being problematic, we don’t care

[–]Plus-Elk8288 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a star is born ✨

[–]molotov__cockteazeI already condemned Hamas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This made me spit out the pickle juice I'm drinking for breakfast.

[–]adom12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha legit, like every theatre kid I know that’s an adult…still does this

[–]carlitospig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was theater kid. Can confirm.

[–]HMSArcturus 2355 points2356 points  (64 children)

I mean yeah she probably was. Honestly, many of us probably were. Also remember "Stefani Germonatta, You Will Never Be Famous"?

[–]Heavy_Sand5228[S] 779 points780 points  (3 children)

It wouldn’t shock me if Carly was a member

[–]Kraft-dinnah 199 points200 points  (1 child)

Carly was pretty nasty both times she was on the Bachelor so that tracks.

It was forever ago but when she was on The Bachelor I remember her being super insecure and bullying another girl who the bachelor liked more. Then I vaguely remember her going on Bachelor in Paradise and being a total asshole to one guy (talking a ton of shit about him in confessionals and acting disgusted at kissing him) and ending up marrying him and having a kid with him lol.

Iirc she actually had to apologize both times after the seasons ended.

[–]blames_irrationally 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He was a urologist and she said kissing him gave her erectile dysfunction lmao. She apologized as the season aired because she realized how horrible it came across to the audience.

[–]Olealicat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It would shock me if she wasn’t doing her own, someone discover me, elsewhere.

[–]Funmachine 195 points196 points  (51 children)

That wasn't actually a thing. Facebook groups weren't introduced until 2010. Just Dance and Pokerface were released in 2008. They'd be pretty late by then.

Edit: Jesus Christ guys, I'm wrong. But I don't need every member of this sub to reply with their own experience of pages and groups.

40 versions of the same reply.

[–]marymonstera 311 points312 points  (0 children)

They had Facebook groups like that in 2006, maybe they were called something else or functioned differently but there was a joke one for a guy on my floor freshman year and it turned into a whole thing.

[–]attheincline 227 points228 points  (1 child)

Eh, I know at least two people who had pages made specifically to bully them. It wasn’t a group, but it was still very public (and cruel).

[–]Thomzzz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes this was big in ‘06-‘070

[–]NayNay85 221 points222 points  (0 children)

What??? We definitely had Facebook groups in college in 2005.

[–]watermelonuhohh 178 points179 points  (1 child)

This is so not correct. I was in college before 2010 and the amount of groups created just for people who lost their phones and needed their friends numbers everyday was like…constant. Tons of groups. Maybe you’re thinking of Facebook “Pages” which came around and everyone was like, wait isn’t this the same thing as group?

[–]iheartwalltoast 101 points102 points  (1 child)

It could have been a like page. Is that not a thing anymore?

[–]loreleiiiii 95 points96 points  (1 child)

Can’t confirm this specific group, but Facebook groups have existed since at least 2005. (Source: I just checked the age of my oldest groups.)

[–]squeakyfromage 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that source is absolutely not right. I joined Facebook in 2007 and immediately joined a ton of stupid groups for no reason because I thought the names were funny

[–]vulcan_vampireLarry I'm on DuckTales 89 points90 points  (2 children)

We should also note that Facebook Groups that allowed more than one person to interact through a Facebook page by sharing updates, posts, etc, were first introduced in October 2010, years after Germanotta left college. However, according to CNET, college students were able to avail themselves of groups in some form in its early days before Facebook became more widely available. Screenshots of early profiles on "The Facebook" (the name it was once known by) also show the option of "My Groups."

It is possible that a group of some kind was created by students at New York University, where Gaga went to college. In January 2016, a journalist named Lauren Bohn shared her encounter with the Facebook group "Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous" while still a freshman at NYU.

[–]amidalarama 65 points66 points  (1 child)

why are they talking about early facebook like it's something long lost that we can only speculate about through the archaeological record

[–]brainparts 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes lol this is making me feel so confused!!! FB groups were absolutely a thing and it’s easy to verify.

[–]MrsTracyJordan 70 points71 points  (5 children)

There were definitely Facebook groups before 2010. My school was in the second wave to get it around 2004-05 and we had extremely random groups.

[–]Low_Koala2047 48 points49 points  (3 children)

Yes for sure, I distinctly remember one circa 2005 called “Aeropostale is for peasants”. IIRC they were initially just within your school though.

[–]GlassPinetree 32 points33 points  (0 children)

"When I was your age, Pluto was a planet"

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

i was the admin of one called "why do they show sonic commercials in wisconsin if there isn't one nearby?"

we eventually got a sonic like 3 years later. i like to think i was some small part of that.

[–]katienatie 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I was 100% in Facebook groups before I finished university in 2009 🤷🏼‍♀️

[–]supergirlsudz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They had groups but they were not like they are now. I remember in college like 2006 creating a bunch of random, embarrassing ones.

[–]jacksev 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Actually that’s just when they were a public product. Facebook was invented in 2004 for college students, and as such a lot of its main features (including registration at first) were restricted to college students. “My Groups” was one of these features and could easily have been accessed by students at NYU, Tisch or otherwise.

[–]Consistent-Voice4647 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Facebook groups definitely existed when I was in college in 2004.

[–]chicken-fried-chick 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Groups were absolutely a thing- they were just limited to groups within your university. I was a member and administrator of multiple groups in 04/05.

[–]starlight0229 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There were definitely groups before 2010. I am still in one for a reunion that happened in 2009 and I have even more that are older from probably 2005 or 2006.

[–]Moggehhthis is cracked behaviour I can get behind 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Facebook groups weren't introduced until 2010.

That's not accurate. I was maintaining a Facebook group with hundreds of members in 2006.

[–]Madwoman-of-Chaillot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It absolutely was a thing.

[–]staybig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not true I joined a million groups when I joined Facebook in 2007. By 2010 I was graduating high school and can confirm I would not have been joining “the mullet must live” facebook groups..

Also I remember when Superbad came out one of my classmates made a Superbad fan group and it got like 20,000 members and it was the coolest thing that ever happened to us. Superbad came out in 2007.

If you look at the sidebar of these past Facebook designs, “my groups” has always been a thing.

https://www.cnet.com/pictures/facebook-then-and-now-pictures/4/

[–]holdontoyourbuttress 48 points49 points  (4 children)

I have always privately believed that Gaga created this group herself for attention. I doubt everyone even thought about her enough to make this group page. People in college aren't obsessed with each other like they are in high school. It seems like something a narcissistic person would do so that they could be like "wow I showed them". I wonder if there is any way to confirm when the group was actually made. My guess is that she made it after she was already famous

[–]historyhoneybee 47 points48 points  (0 children)

When I was 10, I had a YouTube channel (big mistake) and I definitely made hate pages for myself because I wanted to be in some drama so bad. So I fully believe lady gaga made that page.

[–]HMSArcturus 21 points22 points  (2 children)

I wouldn't be surprised either way honestly. I went to a huge public state college so yeah no one cares like that, but I also wouldn't be shocked if at a smaller school it got very High School 2.0 at times. Could be someone who wanted to have an 'I showed them' story but also could be someone who felt personally slighted that someone was doing better than them.

[–]613Aly 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was an RA in University starting in 2007 and I created groups for the residents on my floor every year and the groups still exist and I’m still in them. They were definitely a thing

[–]formerfrontdesk 1765 points1766 points  (36 children)

Theater kid is annoying at lunch, news at 11. What’s next, that she did vocal warmups in the stairwell ‘for the acoustics’ even though there were practice rooms open?

[–]SuccessfulSchedule54 393 points394 points  (3 children)

This is the most BFA thing I’ve ever read in my life

[–]rubicon11chris pine’s flip phone 74 points75 points  (2 children)

Holy shit you just trigged a memory from college of a theater girl practiced her scales in the dorm stairwell during finals week (finals week=quiet hours on the floor), and someone left their room, opened the door and bellowed “SHUT THE FUCK UP” into the stairwell.

[–]InkyGrrrl 63 points64 points  (3 children)

I’ve never known a Manhattan performing arts program where it wasn’t a battle to get a practice room reservation

[–]formerfrontdesk 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Oh, and the pointed staring if you were in there! Taking a minute to do hand stretch breaks? Illegal! And then they wonder why they get carpal tunnel!

[–]ClockworkOctopodesbuccal fat apologist 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That hostile silent stare through the little practice room window

<image>

[–]SuccessfulSchedule54 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Did you go to my high school or college?

[–]OneBackground828 1392 points1393 points  (12 children)

TLDR: Cruise ship singer says academy award winning, Grammy winning artist was annoying in college.

[–]mildlyoutraged 440 points441 points  (5 children)

She came out of the limo on Bachelor singing into a kids play microphone, as if she wouldn’t have been on that piano if she had the chance.

[–]whatever1467 169 points170 points  (4 children)

Honestly she just sounds petty/jealous since she has tried sooooo hard to make a career out of singing

[–][deleted] 75 points76 points  (3 children)

The difference being Lady Gaga actually has skill

I cringed anytime she sang on the Bachelor

[–]whatever1467 45 points46 points  (1 child)

She’s still releasing music that no one cares about lol and of course now she’s getting ‘Gaga is better’ comments on her song posts

[–]peachysaralynn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

as she should for pulling this petty attention-seeking crap. even if gaga wasn’t actually better!

[–]nktmnn 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I would have appreciated this headline more 😅

[–]Badtoaderfinger 32 points33 points  (0 children)

🤣

[–]carbonpeach 11 points12 points  (0 children)

THIS OMG

[–]icestormseastan someone? in this economy??? 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly!!!!!! 😂😂

[–][deleted] 943 points944 points  (4 children)

She was a college theater kid, of course she was annoying.

[–]TheBarefootGirl 34 points35 points  (2 children)

I was one too. Can confirm.

[–]tbellfiend 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Literally my thought when I read the title of this post. "Of course she was."

[–]DigLost5791saw Flying Lotus at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday 643 points644 points  (1 child)

I thought this was a bizarre non story but the detail that Gaga sang the same song at full volume on the piano every day at lunch is pretty hilariously delirious and I appreciate learning this fact

[–]dedeyeshak 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This was punishment for the catty bitches, and it only makes me like Gaga more.

[–]vulcan_vampireLarry I'm on DuckTales 458 points459 points  (3 children)

Guess she was one of the 99 people in the room who didn’t believe in her… but we all know how that turned out.

[–]BabbleOn26 132 points133 points  (2 children)

Actual footage of Gaga on the piano during lunch with that one person that believed in her:

[–]megannotmeagan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Bradley’s tongue in this gif 🥴🥴🥴

[–]BrickLuvsLampand they were roommates! 317 points318 points  (4 children)

So was every single theater kid everywhere. They were a nightmare to be around if you shared the same first hour and weren’t totally awake yet. Just constant noise coming from them lol

[–]carlitospig 36 points37 points  (2 children)

We are sorry.

[–]BrunoWeen 90 points91 points  (1 child)

I don’t believe you!!!

[–]carlitospig 25 points26 points  (0 children)

😉

[–][deleted] 213 points214 points  (10 children)

let's be real, who wasn't annoying in college?

good on Gaga for being confident enough to have fun in public. i'm always too shy and self-conscious to do that.

[–]djackieunchaned 101 points102 points  (7 children)

I was pretty cool in college I hat a backwards hat and everything

[–]ElizaLevinson 17 points18 points  (6 children)

humble brag

[–]djackieunchaned 12 points13 points  (4 children)

Did you know comedian Harris Wittels invented that term? Spread the word!

[–]lily4ever 9 points10 points  (1 child)

RIP Harris Wittels 😔

[–]djackieunchaned 12 points13 points  (0 children)

“I want to open an Irish Jamaican small plates breakfast restaurant and call it ‘tapas the morning to jah’”. Never fails to make me laugh

[–]barefootcuntessa_ 34 points35 points  (1 child)

Probably a lot of what got her where she is. She is incredibly talented. And I’m not even really a fan. Most of her style of music isn’t appealing to me, but you can’t deny she is a force. I respect her talent regardless of the fact that she her music isn’t my favorite. Plenty of people are absolute fucking powerhouses and don’t make it, she DGAF and it paid off for her.

[–]neoneccentric 176 points177 points  (5 children)

Carly will do/say anything she can to remain relevant. Including marrying a man she was physically repulsed by.

[–][deleted] 51 points52 points  (0 children)

[–]aelizabeth0623 16 points17 points  (0 children)

[–]quantumdreamqueenhigh priestess of child sacrifice 132 points133 points  (6 children)

Sooo you went to a performing arts college and you were the boring hater. Noted. Lmao

[–]mysocalledmayhem 113 points114 points  (1 child)

It’s hard to hold anyone who goes on The Bachelor up as a baseline standard of reasonable & balanced judgement, especially on the subject of connecting with people. this isn’t the sick burn she thinks it is.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking lol - you are literally on a reality show. Sit down.

[–]thewidowgorey 100 points101 points  (8 children)

I’m enjoying “When asked if Gaga, 37, was “noticeably” better than other students at the performing arts school, Waddell responded with a blunt “no.”

[–]quantumdreamqueenhigh priestess of child sacrifice 212 points213 points  (3 children)

Tbf, although NYU as a whole is a rich kids school, Tisch is extremely difficult to get into and kids from all over the country audition to get in. Her classmates were just as talented as she was, just either didn’t get their big break or have careers elsewhere.

[–]jkraige 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Yeah this seems more of a "everyone is great so it's hard to stand out" than anything

[–]thewidowgorey 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Completely agree

[–]BlueBirdie0 79 points80 points  (2 children)

While I think she's just petty (someone posted an additional gross slut shamey quote Carly gave about Gaga's clothes and boobs), but....even as a Gaga fan it's probably accurate.

Tisch, like Julliard, is "extremely" hard to get into and involves multiple auditions, etc..... Everyone who goes there is very talented, some just get their big breaks though and some don't. I will say I think Gaga, who isn't conventionally attractive even if she looks fine, probably had it harder than the pretty girls because let's be honest beauty helps with big breaks...but of course POC have it three times as hard than anyone else.

[–]thewidowgorey 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Grew up around these people. Definitely know about the environment. She definitely wasn’t hit with the ugly stick. It just has more to do with ambition and connections. She was Lea Michele but with better circumstances.

[–]BlueBirdie0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you are talking about ambition? Cause Gaga's never been accused of being a bully a la Lea, for all her issues.

I agree she was probably very, very, very ambitious (not a nepo baby or a billionaire heiress a la the Maras, but grew up with some money, too).

Kind of disagree on the looks things. I also have friends in the business and it absolutely helps. Gaga's not ugly at all, she's even kind of pretty imo, but conventional beauty is absolutely a boon most of the time.

[–]Dismal_Judgment5290 79 points80 points  (0 children)

You don’t become Lady Gaga by being shy and retiring. Next up, water is wet.

[–]RevealActive4557 81 points82 points  (2 children)

I can certainly imagine Gaga being annoying. She is a full-on attention hound. A talented one though. She even did that song about loving the applause

[–]druidhdancer 35 points36 points  (1 child)

She’s a fame monster

[–]reesewitherfork 9 points10 points  (0 children)

m-m-m-monster

[–]Mountain-jew87 54 points55 points  (0 children)

So she got a free lady Gaga concert everyday?

[–]bakuding 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It’s college (in NYC) like go eat your lunch at the restaurant or park or on campus somewhere else girl no need to sit and complain abt being serenaded by an icon 🤪

[–]atschinkel 39 points40 points  (3 children)

sweetie you are 38 years old. theater kids are annoying, yes, but this is loser behavior.

[–]adapech 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I can’t imagine being 38 and still getting annoyed about something that happened over a decade ago in university. It’s so immature.

I had no idea who this woman even is until she brought up Gaga though, as The Bachelor isn’t really a thing outside of the US, so I guess her saying this in order to try and gain relevancy is working.

But I’ll inevitably forget her name tomorrow. Jealousy really is something.

i’m in the US and i have no idea who she is 🤣

[–]bananaslug178 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Carly very clearly hated and bullied women on her bachelor season so this comes as no surprise. I'm sure she's enjoying using Lady Gaga's name for clout in order to stay relevant.

[–]rabidturbofox 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Who among us?

[–]Palindrome_01289 30 points31 points  (0 children)

She may have been annoying but at least she didn’t go on the Bachelor, Carly…

[–]BigAsh27 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I know someone who knew her in high school and they said the same thing!

[–]Heavy_Sand5228[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Also I just realized I spelled the Bachelor competitor’s name wrong in the title. Apologies.

[–]lavenderlemonade_xx 25 points26 points  (1 child)

and i’m sure you were a gem carly wardell of the bachelor

[–]BlueBirdie0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She was, what, 19? Like no surprise, a 19 year old theater kid is extra and annoying and is still extra to this day.

My friend said Carly also slut shamed Gaga (not in this article, but in the interview), which isn't getting as much attention, so that's pretty gross. Something about how Gaga always wore super tight, low cut tops that showed her boobs off.

Pushing 40 and bitching about how your classmate wore revealing clothes at 19 to the media is low, sexist, and pathetic imo.

[–]srhdbvg 16 points17 points  (0 children)

She also claimed that her tits were also always hanging out. Not sure why that was necessary. She had serious mean girl vibes on the bachelor and still seems to be ringing true

[–]EyesLikeBuscemi 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Someone on a dating show has an opinion about a classmate that went on to great success? Wow, cool. Searching for Carly Waddell on Wikipedia leads to no real results except the first result being her more famous ex-husband... Someone's a little jealous, I think.

[–]Charming_Mongoose_60 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A little? Lol

[–]Molly_latte 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My old bff went to NYU with Gaga, and she has been saying the same thing for years lmao

[–]anongirl55 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Gaga being annoying and attention-seeking is not at all surprising, but stating it publicly as fact just makes Carly look like a jerk.

[–]ColonialHoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Carly accusing Gaga of being annoying and attention-seeking by being even more annoying and attention-seeking, sounds about right

[–]SuccessfulSchedule54 12 points13 points  (2 children)

People get annoyed sometimes when others are dedicated to their craft, but it’s basically never for personal reasons. It would have been so easy for them to just gently ask her to stop lol but they wanted to be salty because she was exceptionally talented and had a (perhaps excessive at times but that’s not a crime) great work ethic.

[–]barefootcuntessa_ 30 points31 points  (1 child)

I probably would have been annoyed, too. But that doesn’t mean it was bad or she’s bad or awful or whatever TF Carly is getting at. Being annoying as a theater major is morally neutral. Being a bitter Betty is sad.

[–]SuccessfulSchedule54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Went to theatre high school and college and for sure would be annoying. But yeah poor bitter Betty lol

[–]FerrousFellow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay I was going to say "it must have been defying gravity" but every theater kid knows at least half of that show by memory

[–]Holychance_3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This was college not high school, no one was forcing her to eat lunch with someone she thought was annoying. It’s giving big hater energy

[–]LadyWinterSnow22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wonder if Gaga knows who this lady is.

[–]littleliongirless 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Carly Wadell was probably also incredibly annoying in college. She was annoying way after too, so maybe like just recognizes and resents like.

[–]halfeatenpeaches 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So a regular theatre kid? Lol

[–]philosopodspotted joe biden in dc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

GAGA, THEY COULD NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU

[–]flirtydodo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

remember: there can be 100 people in a room and 99 of them don’t believe in you but all it takes is one and it just changes your whole life!

[–]resetdials 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not this woman complaining about getting free daily Gaga concerts.

[–]AliMcGraw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Theater Kids are mildly annoying, details at 11

[–]limabeanseww 9 points10 points  (0 children)

knowing that Gaga was crazy hungry to prove herself during that time, I don’t find this at all surprising

[–]JapaneseBBQGrill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Carly Waddell is just continuing to hate on women she’s likely envious of. It’s kind of her thing

[–]smcl2k 9 points10 points  (0 children)

TIL that Carly Waddell went on the Bachelor in a bid to become a pop star.

[–]languid_Disaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So what if she was annoying? To be perfectly honest, lots of flamboyant edgy people are annoying up close. That’s a part of why they outside the mainstream

[–]bluemontanaskiesx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love Gaga but this is completely unsurprising if true lol

[–]beet_hummus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

and now she’s lady gaga so…

[–]Fox_Massive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I cannot imagine being so dull that I'd complain about an annoying classmate 20 years later. I simply have experienced too many minutes to care to talk about schoolmates.

[–]Raichu10126 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]apoplectic_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol I mean a lot of people who make interesting art are annoying. Kinda goes with the territory.

[–]atomictest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, she’s more famous than you are, Carly, so.
