It has been somewhat macabre the way they’ve been giving us step-by-step updates on what should be a private matter and not clickbait fodder. They told us everything short of which organs were donated, and I don’t doubt that will be leaked as well. She’s getting more attention in death than she did in life, something I hope whoever is caring for her children is shielding from them.

[–]lifeisweird86 37 points38 points  (1 child)

I was thinking the same. It's all so distasteful to say the least.

[–]DaughterOfWarlords 36 points37 points  (17 children)

Yeah I had no idea who she even was 9 days ago

[–]beigs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you watched avatar: legend of korra, she was Suyin Beifong.

[–]ilovespt 5 points6 points  (15 children)

huh? how is that possible? she was in the psycho remake by gus van sant, she dated ellen degeneres, she was in another world...

[–]Vircxzs 29 points30 points  (5 children)

As an older Gen Y, before this incident I feel like I stopped hearing about Anne Heche "unprompted" after the year 2001. I wouldn't be surprised if most redditors born after 2000 who didn't work in the movie industry had no clue who she was.

[–]MiniatureAppendix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was born in ‘93 and don’t watch many movies so when the news broke I only vaguely recognized her name as Ellen’s ex. I just checked IMDb and I’ve never seen any of the films she’s in.

[–]minlatedollarshort 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Thank you for saying Gen Y. They’ll have to pry that generational label from my cold, dead hands.

[–]LittleLarryY 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oregon Trail Generation baby!!!

[–]DaughterOfWarlords 9 points10 points  (1 child)

The earliest partner I remember being attached to Ellen was always Portia. I never saw her psycho remake. The only film of hers I’ve seen is My Friend Dahmer.

[–]DonDove 4 points5 points  (1 child)

The 90s were without YT if you were young enough you had no idea who she was until last week.

[–]ilovespt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you're right. it's funny though how celebs can kind of fade from the public eye and then they somehow resurface and you're like "oh yeah... so and so...". and then it hits you, shit it's been a long time since they were really in the spotlight.. and time works strangely too. for me, it doesn't seem long ago that she was pretty popular, but of course it was quite some time ago.

Tragic life, though... i didn't realize she had these drug abuse issues and her upsetting childhood etc

[–]Accomplished_Pop_198 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Different generation.

[–]ilovespt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah i guess she's not as big now as she was when she was starring in movies with harrison ford for eg. i remember when she was like "the next big thing" but it never quite happened. did you see the movie where she played jeffrey dahmer's mom? 'my friend dahmer? not the best movie but intriguing...

[–]Ompare -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It stop being a private matter when she hit and ran from an accident, then sped on a residential area, crashing and destroying a house. At least she did not kill anybody, that she could have easily done.

How many times can a person be taken off of life support

[–]americanextreme 76 points77 points  (7 children)

I’m not even subbed to this feed. Reddit keeps advertising it though so I have no choice but to see her die again and again. I wouldn’t even see your comment but it was advertised too. I think the only way out is me getting banned. I have to get banned from r/entertainment so that Anne Heche, who I don’t know, can stop dying again and again. Thanks Reddit.

[–]herpderpomygerp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fun fact even if your banned you can still see the feed.....just click to ignore/not see it anymore.....

[–]Kivulini 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm right there with you friend.

[–]WhatsBruinInBoston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, I didn’t even know who she was a week ago.

[–]nuesse33 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tragic end to a rough life. Hope her kids are doing okay.

                [–]kentro2002 74 points75 points  (37 children)

She may be famous, and she did some stuff I liked, but anyone who does 90mph in a residential area is not safe on this earth, she could have killed many kids/adults. May God rest her soul.

                [–]annnnnnabanana 27 points28 points  (7 children)

I saw a TikTok earlier today and some people are convinced that she was "murdered", her car never crashed into the house and lit on fire because she didn't have any burn marks/spot on her back in that aerial video of her sitting up on the gurney... I'm just like omfg can't anyone just shut up and accept that she made horrible decisions and lost her life due to it? It's unfortunate but it's reality.

                [–]DonQOnIce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People will really turn anything into a conspiracy. Her back was against a seat so that wouldn’t have been where her burns were

                [–]litreofstarlight 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Murdered by WHO and why? It's like they're so invested in a potential mystery they forget about the whole logic part.

                [–]biggoof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

have you ever tried to reason with these types? holy cow, their brain is mush...

                [–]rtopps43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try asking a flat earther the “why” of it all sometime. Why is there a giant conspiracy to keep people believing the earth is round? Who profits from this, big globe? Asking people who lack basic reasoning skills questions will just frustrate you and upset them when you overload the few working brain cells they have.

                [–]kentro2002 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

She is not a neighbor you would ever want, and she needed help, and didn’t get it, you don’t want her doing 90 in your neighborhood, period. Stick up for her, and Karma may find you.

                [–]RichieRicch 20 points21 points  (17 children)

Yeah the road she was driving on is a 35mph road. It is mind boggling she was going that fast. Tons of families, walkers, and kids always in the area.

                [–]OkRepresentative3366 18 points19 points  (8 children)

This is something u would expect a drunk 17 year old to do. She was over 50. It's amazing that people get to that age and have such poor judgement.

                [–]IAmGodMode 15 points16 points  (1 child)

I wouldn't expect anyone to do it

                [–]ele71ua 3 points4 points  (0 children)

RIGHT????? SWEET JESUS. She was burned, stuck for an hour and the house was destroyed. Why are we getting this God awful play by play of her death. And the way they are wording it is not very thoughtful to children.

                [–]goatbeardis 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Drugs will do that to you. No one is immune to the sort of emotional baggage that leads to drug use, no matter their age or wealth. Seek help, people. The short-term relief isn't worth stuff like this.

Addiction and mental illness can happen at any age

                [–]SurfinSocks 13 points14 points  (7 children)

It surprised me the amount of sympathy with no criticism she was getting in other threads. Yeah it's very sad, tragic that her life ended up that way. But we saw the results of similar actions a few days ago with the woman who argued with her boyfriend and ended up killing 6 innocent people in her car.

                [–]bmnewman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She’s been getting quite a bit of criticism.

                [–]kentro2002 3 points4 points  (1 child)

And, everyone knew she was crazy 20 years ago. But if you are famous, you can still drive.

                [–]mycofirsttime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Uh, crazy can drive at any social level.

                [–]MzOpinion8d -4 points-3 points  (3 children)

The pregnant woman in that crash literally had the fetus torn from her body because the impact was so hard. The baby was found completely separate from the mother.

                [–]RoosterReviews 1 point2 points  (2 children)

That's not how that works chief, the baby found launched from the car was an infant of one of the woman not a fetus you can launch a fetus out of a pregnant woman, they tried that already with a centrifugal force machine that was patterned almost 100 years ago.

                [–]Curious-Gain-7148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reports say the newborn and the 1 year old were found outside the car. The newborns day of birth and day of death are the same day.

                [–]Obwyn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah fuck her. Glad she only killed herself rather than an innocent bystander.

                [–]Free_Hat_McCullough 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I thought her death was announced yesterday

                [–]UnaCabeza 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Didn't she die a few days ago?

                [–]Curious-Gain-7148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CA law dictates a person is dead when they have no brain function, like Anne. They kept her body on life support as she was an organ donor.

                [–]Bigtiny87 14 points15 points  (0 children)

CA laws declare a brain dead person as dead, but will maintain life support for organ transplant. She matched someone, and now it’s over. Relax.

                [–]Upbeat_Peak_4466 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I feel bad for this women and her family. But why is this dominating the news cycle? I haven’t heard the name Anne Heche in almost 30 years. She also caused her on death in what seems like some kind of drug fueled accident. RIP

                [–]ElonMusksCarRecovery 1 point2 points  (1 child)

On the positive side, it's raising so much awareness for organ donation, which hopefully her children will be able to take some comfort from when they are older.

It also shows that mental illness and substance misuse can hound anyone, irrespective of their career or financial success.

                [–]Upbeat_Peak_4466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. That is true. Silver lining I guess.

                [–]neighbornickog 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Somewhat off topic but what’s with all the conspiracy theorys being thrown around here for? A woman is dead and people are like “well, you know there’s something fishy about all this”

Some crazy shit I tell you...

                [–]Fit-Minimum-5507 6 points7 points  (7 children)

It’s tragic BUT i have to think that being taken off life suppport to have your organs donated towards saving -peoples lives has to be at the top of the most respectable ways to die pecking order.

‘I’m not LGTBQ but my mom was. I have all the empathy in the world for people, and obviously women, who had to gave that type of upbringing much less being children up in those circumstances

                  [–]No-Standard9405 2 points3 points  (2 children)

                  At least she's at peace.

I swear I read yesterday that she died? Now she’s on life support?

                  [–]Curious-Gain-7148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

                  Yes.

                  But off life support.

                  [–]experfailist 5 points6 points  (5 children)

                  How life imitates art.

In the movie John Q she’s an organ donor after dying in a car crash.

                  [–]Cumminjg 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Uh, no. She's the hospital administrator. Not the organ donor.

                  [–]experfailist 1 point2 points  (3 children)

                  Really? Whoops

                  [–]Cumminjg 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Yeah, the organ donor dies in the opening scene on the mountain roads (spoiler alert I guess for a 20 year old movie) and Anne plays the very cold and calculating, yet ultimately somewhat redeemed, chief of the hospital where the standoff occurs. She did a great job, too. Very easy to hate her, but in the end, she does the right thing.

                  [–]experfailist 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’ll have to put it on my rewatch list. Sad. I thought she was great.

                  [–]Cumminjg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, she was one of the more memorable characters in the movie imo. I honestly really liked her in most of the roles I saw her in. Even Volcano. She seemed really committed to her characters. Definitely a sorry ending to her personal story but she was good at what she did.

                  [–]Arkady2009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was kept on life support while donor recipients were found. Now that they’ve been found, she’s removed from life support so that her organs can be harvested.

                  [–]OkAttention477 3 points4 points  (18 children)

Wasnte she on drugs and intoxicated while driving

                  [–]Oh_hi_doggi3 7 points8 points  (5 children)

At the very least she was on cocaine. Even with drug abuse there are organs you can take that may not be effected by the drug (for example, eyes or tongue).

                  [–]Urbn_explorer 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I knew people could get eye transplants but I didn’t know about the tongue! The more you know

                  [–]Bostaevski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol I don't think tongue transplants are a thing. For eyes it's just the corneas that they recover.

                  [–]Oh_hi_doggi3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so, I could be totally wrong!

                  [–]CorySmoot 1 point2 points  (1 child)

                  And liver

                  [–]Oh_hi_doggi3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well she's said to be an alcoholic...even if she wasn't drinking at the time of the crash.

But yeah, liver, lungs (if she didnt inhale too much smoke from the fire), kidneys, heart, etc...

                  [–]Obwyn 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Yep. Don’t have any sympathy for her and I’m tired of having stories about her pop up in my feed.

                  [–]Ruby_Tuesday80 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Yeah I was actually run down by a guy who was loaded. He killed one of my dogs. I have brain damage from whacking my head on the asphalt. I have a scar where my arm split open down to the bone. My behavior became so erratic that I got fired from my job. In my opinion, this is the opposite of a tragedy. One less loaded asshole on the road means less of a chance of someone else having to deal with that shit.

                  [–]MzOpinion8d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Valid opinion, especially with what you have suffered. She managed to set a house afire and burn it down when she wrecked, impacting both the tenant and the owner of the home. Fortunately no lives were lost but it was basically a miracle that she didn’t kill someone along with herself.

                  [–]Prestigious_Essay_67 4 points5 points  (1 child)

That's terrible. I hope you're doing alright now.

                  [–]Ruby_Tuesday80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than some cognitive impairment and executive function issues, I'm ok. Unfortunately, no one figured out what my problem was until I was 40. When I was in the accident, there was a guy in the emergency room who had been stabbed, so I was not their priority. No one noticed the concussion.

                  [–]Mary_Pick_A_Ford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you, hopefully you’re doing better now. I hear these stories of people getting hit by a vehicle and getting TBI and they aren’t the same person anymore, personality wise. At least, that’s what family and friends sometimes say. I remember the guy from INXS who got hit by a car and friends said his personality changed afterwards.

                  [–]Im_trolling_yu -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

She died doing what she loved

                  [–]HollyInHell[🍰] -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

She was living her dream. Y'all just jealous.

                  [–]Pand0ra30_ 2 points3 points  (9 children)

How did they donate her organs when she had narcotics in her system?

                  [–]HollyInHell[🍰] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You might want to look into how drugs like cocaine metabolizes in the human body. It doesn't litter every cell with traces of cocaine, there's a bit more involved, science and stuff.

                  [–]Comfortable_Drama_66 3 points4 points  (2 children)

They can still harvest and use organs even if the person used drugs. Certain diseases would be a no go.

                  [–]Pand0ra30_ 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I'm sure her liver wasn't one of the organs donated.

                  [–]hotdogneighbor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ran them through the washing machine

                  [–]suicidalpenguin99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new organs are gonna have a little kick to them

                  [–]capitalismwitch 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I am confused what organs can be harvested given she was in a burning vehicle, brain dead and on narcotics. I can’t imagine there was much left.

                  [–]MzOpinion8d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The narcotics would have worn off. She may have had unburned skin that could be donated, and she was brain dead but on life support so her organs were not suffering from oxygen loss. They would have needed to find donors who matched her blood type and various other factors, but likely a lot of her organs were potentially donated. I hope so. At least something good can come from this.

                  [–]Disgruntleddutchman 1 point2 points  (11 children)

Are you still using internet explorer? Because she’s been dead for a few days now..

                  [–]GabJ78 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She was declared brain dead. Now, she's passed, disconnected from life support

                  [–]otter111a 6 points7 points  (9 children)

What are you talking about? She died earlier this evening.

She was declared brain dead (clinically and legally dead) on the 12th. They kept her on a ventilator in order to keep her heart beating so that she could remain a candidate for organ donation.

She died two days ago. They kept her organs alive long enough to transplant them.

She was declared brain dead which is legally dead but not dead because her tissues were still living

                  [–]HotDoctor3588 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You cannot live without the brain. Machines kept her alive her tissues are a part of her but not her whilst the brain quite literally is everything of her.

Her heart was still beating so she was technically alive even though her brain was off.

                  [–]UMR_Doma 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You’re still alive if your heart is beating?

                  [–]Bostaevski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not if your brain is dead, which is what happened in her case - she's clinically and legally dead. They can keep the heart beating by keeping her on a ventilator.

                  No she died tomorrow morning.

She died again. This is the fourth day in a row.

As a recovering addict, part of me feels sad for her but if you drive fucked up you can kill others and I say good that she was the only casualty. Stupid games, stupid prizes and all that.

                  [–]swohguy33 -3 points-2 points  (5 children)

Apparently drove drunk / on drugs at high speed thru a residential neighborhood, and crashed into someones house. If she wasn't "famous" people would have already said "what a loser"

                  [–]jake101103 3 points4 points  (4 children)

                  This was somebody’s mother

                  [–]deficientchili 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You can feel bad for her loved ones and the people she’s effected while also recognizing that she made a disgusting decision that resulted in her death and the loss of a woman’s home and belongings. I dont understand why people are defending her at all.

                  [–]sarsky777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not interested in seeing anymore of her. She could have killed so many people. Glad her organs were usable… that’s all I got really. I have no sympathy for drunk or drugged out drivers.

Oh. I feel more sorry for the person whose home she fucked up

oh please, tell us more. This sounds exciting...

                    That’s a claim - where’s the warrant?

                    [–]dafaceguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thought she died like 3 days ago

                    [–]dzigaboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Zero sympathy. She fled in her vehicle after a DUI crash (after refusing help from witnesses) then sped down a residential street at freeway speeds and destroyed someone’s home. If she owned up like a growned up she’d be alive.

She knew too much… can’t wait for the movie tho

I only knew this person from Ellen's coming out. It's a shame that she struggled with so many demon's. I partially blame Ellen.

                    [–]Ruby_Tuesday80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I struggle with so much shit, but I don't do things that could kill people. She was a grown-ass woman. If she could afford a drug habit, she could afford mental healthcare. Suck it up and trade the cocaine for lithium.

That's sad but, maybe don't do blow and drive near 100mph in a residential area.

                    [–]Conscious-Salary-680 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My thoughts and prayers... to all those affected by this womans selfish acts.

                    [–]PassengerNo1815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just sad all round. Her poor kids, what a particularly awful way to lose someone you love. The lady who lost her house will probably have PTSD. Just so sad.

                    Former actor. She dead.
