I second this.

Soubry s a massive advocate for having bright legal minds in parliament - leading the legislative agenda. To that end it's not really a surprise at this point, she's always shown alot of respect for Keir.

I too am a huge sucker for having competent people in government. Why don't people care about this stuff?

Which is as it should be. By voting, I'm offloading decision making to someone else, so I should be able to feel that they're bright enough to make decisions on my behalf, not some oaf who I wouldn't trust to be smart enough to empty my bins.

This is a massive turnaround from a Cameronite Conservative when she was an MP of the party. Similar to John Bercow.

Hearing her actually say those words on air was so surreal, coming from a Cameronite Tory, I was genuinely taken aback.

not that massive, she was moderate enough to quit the tories under may, and starmer isn't exactly lenin

She’s gone Tory -> SDP -> Tory -> Chucker -> Labour. I wouldn’t really say this is a big deal.

Not as surprising if you understand that the country is going to be a dumpster fire for the next few years and any party that presides over said fire will be receiving the blame regardless of fault.

You're witnessing political hot potato.

finally, the heavy hitters are weighing in…

Not sure Anna Soubry is going to help Keir’s attempts to appeal to leave voting areas, unless it’s a deliberate nod to the pro-EU vote.

I don't think she is even trying to. It is more of a nod about how disastrous Boris Johnson and his government are than anything else.

I assume you missed Keir's "Get Brexit Working" stance now, with Labour focusing on making it work since "we lost the vote, we can't go back so we have to make sure we're getting the best out of it for everyone".

Which is exactly targeting the lifelong Labour voters who voted for Boris in 2019 over his Brexit promises.

Well.....it's more so the fact that small C-Conservatives feel comfortable enough about Labour that they can potentially vote Lib Dem. Some will go to Labour.

That's why it matters. When you have Cameronite Conservatives endorsing the Labour leader it's a good sign for Labour.
