In 10 days, the World shall collectively turn their eyes, some anxious, others resigned, to the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood for the annual gathering of American filmmakers, actors, and moneybags producers. The ritual by now is somewhat predictable: There will probably be jokes of questionable taste and humor at the actor's expenses, musical numbers with varying degrees of intonation, and enough commercials for the ceremony's runtime to rival Lawrence of Arabia. Perhaps most predictable of all will be the inevitably controversial winners who will cause future generations to question the sanity of our times.
However, here at r/TrueFilm, we see no reason why the Academy should have all the fun, we enjoy questioning our own sanity from time to time as well! As such, we have prepared an Oscar ballot for you to cast your own votes, and see how much the results differ from the Academy's.
For all the millions who tune in to the Oscars, and the millions more who analyse and critique the results, the actual voter base of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS) is only 6,028 strong, 1,176 (~19.5%) of which are actors. The total breakdown can be seen here. This means that, however unlikely, it is actually possible to simulate the voting even in our modest userbase.
The 1st page is a series of demographics questions, not required but may be useful in analyzing the results. The 2nd page is the full list of nominees; Each question is required, however for those categories you are unsure of, an n/a option is provided.
The voting shall last until March 2nd when the results will be posted shortly before the ceremony. Anti-spam measures are in place, all the Mods have access to the back-end database and flagged votes will be examined and voided if necessary. In case that wasn't clear enough, you may only submit your ballot once.
