I turned 16 a few months ago, I got a job, got my license, got a car. Things were looking really good for me. A few days ago I found out I was pregnant. I’ve decided I want to keep it. I don’t want judgment or people telling me to get an abortion. I just want some advice on how I should go about this. Some advice on how to be a teen mom.
Edit: I have talked to the father and he’s sticking around.(thankfully) he’s told his mom but I have not. He has a job and he’s turning 18 in about a week and a half. He also has an apartment lined up. So I’m honestly waiting for him to move in before I tell my parents so that if they kick me out I have somewhere to go. His mom is disappointed but supportive and understanding. I have already been to a clinic and been connected to an obgyn and have started prenatal. Also I will be finishing school. Thankfully my school has a free family resource center and free teen parenting classes and also free child care. I am very fortunate to have access to all these resources.
Edit 2: since a lot of you think I don’t have responsibilities, I pay my phone bill, I started paying rent when I got a job (only $300 a month but it’s something) I buy my own toiletries, and groceries. It’s not because I am forced to but because I choose to so that I can learn real responsibility. I have been doing this for about 2 years now since when I started babysitting a 1 year old and a 6 year old. I babysat from 4pm-8pm every weekday and from 10am-8pm on weekends. I know babysitting is nothing compared to being a parent but from that experience I know how to care for children.
Update: after reading all these comments, talking to my parents, my bf, and my bfs parents. We have decided not to keep the baby. I will be having it but my aunt, who cannot conceive, will be adopting it. We haven’t discussed every detail such as if the baby will know I’m their biological mother, if I’ll be a prominent figure in their life, things like that. Thank you to everyone who has given me advice and I would appreciate any advice on those things if anyone has any.
