that 5700G is gonna be the GOAT

[–]Legal-Lolicon69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreee man! Early reviews are loking good.

5700g +FSR will be the best buy for 2021. SFFPC will be great.

[–]Legal-Lolicon69 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think 5700g is for me. I need cpu performance cuz CAD and don't really need a dedicated gpu. I don't game AAA and fine with 1080p 60fps. I also don't edit videos that much to need raw gpu power. So and 8core/16thread beast vs 6/12 core + gpu combo, 5700g is more reasonable for me. Also the 65 tdp is like the same with 5600g or 3600 if I'm correct which I also want/need (high electric bills). Might just add a gpu in a year or too or maybe not at all. Overall, excited for this and might be able to buy one when the time comes.

Wow I'm kinda surprised the 5600g is cheaper than the 5600x!

[–]dhejejwj 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Its supposed to be, the x variants always have higher clock speeds and cost more. It should be the same performance as the “5600” though

[–]conquer69i5 2500k / R9 380 7 points8 points  (1 child)

He is surprised because the 4600g and 4700g were more expensive than the 3600 and 3700x.

[–]cd36jvn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They weren't released to consumers so that's probably why.

[–]Powerman2935950X + RX 6800XT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5600G also has slower and less PCIE lanes than its X counterpart as well.

[–]zefy2k5Ryzen 7 1700, 8GB RX470 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Less cache?

[–]mxforest 12 points13 points  (4 children)

Graphics problem solved. If the iGPU supports FSR, then it will perform atleast modestly.

[–]Chezw1ck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is amazing news.

I want to bag a 5600G while waiting for GPU prices to stabilise which is obviously is going to take some time.

Fingers crossed I'll be able to pick one up and they don't all end up in the hands of scalpers.

[–]alejandroc90 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Do you think I'll be able to get one of this from Amazon?

[–]Beautiful_Cream_6376crying in dual core 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only if availability is not the issue.

[–]riesendulli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t use Amazon for pc parts. They are known for letting you preorder and cancel months later

[–]mockingbird-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. Why not?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wish they release sooner, but I am happy its being released sooner than end of the year.

[–]tonyp73100@4.4Ghz | 32GB 3600 CL16 | RTX 3080 | Tomahawk X570 2 points3 points  (1 child)

They only have PCIe3 lanes. Why???

[–]GladalucioRyzen 7 3700X | GTX 1070 | X570 Taichi | 32GB Trident Z 3200CL14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are kind of repurposed laptop-chips which have no benefit in equipping PCIe 4.0, so to save both cost and power they kept including PCIe 3.0. For most usecases this is plenty anyways, even the fastest graphics cards aren't limited by PCIe 3.0 all that much if at all.

patiently waiting for the $219 5600 non-X

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the 5600 non-X most likely. You'll have to spend a minimum of $260. AMD has inflated pricing across the board and cut off all budget options.

[–]PM_ME_UR_CUDDLEZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This paired with FSR and you probably wouldn't care if you're game is just stable hovering over 60 fps. Cause it beats paying for an overpriced gpu

[–]That1m8 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Any speculation about how this apu GPU is compared to actual GPU?

[–]bloogles1 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Paired with fast RAM it’s around 1030/550 dGPU level performance.

Intel has a cut down Xe die for the desktop (UHD 750) due to 14nm so AMD will still be much faster despite the older graphics engine.

[–]basicslovakguy 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I am currently using 1200p monitor, and I plan to upgrade at some point to 1440p. I don't really play modern games (mostly e-sport titles like Trackmania and Rocket League), but I would like to try a bit older titles like Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Cities: Skylines and so on. I miss some open-world experience.

Do you think iGPU in 5700G can deliver on that front on 1440p ? I care more about FPS than details, so I won't mind decreasing the settings in favor of getting more fluid experience.

For perspective, I am currently using AMD Kaveri A10-7850k with iGPU, so I kinda expect a sizable upgrade in terms of performance.

[–]bloogles1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will certainly be better than your current APU but it's not really geared towards 1440P gaming. You'll probably have to wait until RDNA/DDR5 models come out to get another big boost, that's one of the reasons AMD has stuck with Vega for now since DDR4 is kind of limiting.

Having said that if you temper your expectations you can definitely do some light gaming on them. It's important to use fast RAM to get the best out of it.

This video should give you a good overview of what you could expect if speced out properly and if you're willing to play around with OC'ing a bit.

[–]Kristosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's any way you'll get decent framerates at 1440p on Vega iGPU. It's not even a solid 1080p @60FPS experience . It MIGHT be a 720p 60FPS tho with medium settings.

[–]Time_Newspaper_9775 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I was planning on building my first pc using a 3400g to play csgo and valorant, I haven't owned a pc in a long time. Will this really be a vast improvement on the 3400g?

[–]mrbangwell 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It would be a quite a difference for sure

[–]Time_Newspaper_9775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People said the same about the other amd apus but benchmark tests show that the 3400g is on a roughly equal footing if not slightly better in some cases. Im more interested in the difference between the 3400 and 5600 as stand alone units, I'm sure the 5700 will be noticeably better.

[–]jauling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any legitimate shops doing pre-orders for 5600G?

[–]exwa12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DIY market on August 5th means we can buy ? or is it only for manufacters ?

can we buy this cpu ? The real question here is will Amd support the apu driver ? i know that there are not very good (maybe just until now )on driver on the apu segment. this new 5 apu series with the current gpu prices sure will have sales impact and u have to follow with apu driver support

[–]MelaniaSexLife 0 points1 point  (4 children)

do you guys think that GPU might be as good as a Polaris GPU? (RX 480/580) Or it will be worse? If worse, how much worse?

[–]Glockamoli2700X@4.35Ghz|Crosshair 7 Hero|MSI Armor 1070|32Gb DDR4 3200Mhz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I doubt it'd be much better than current apus since it's still Vega based

[–]john_dune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's around a 1030gt ddr5 in performance.

[–]mrbangwell 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It will be worse, closer to RX560 I think.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

550

[–]john_dune 2 points3 points  (2 children)

No. You can manage 1080 medium/low. 1440p is a lot more pixels

[–]basicslovakguy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Sad to hear, but better now than after buying. Thanks.

[–]john_dune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, wait for the benchmarks to hit, but I don't think 1440p is in the realm of playable right now for iGPUs in general.

[–]hazard224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will they work with the b550 motherboards that are out there now?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping I can do a (with a bios update) simple drop in upgrade for my ASRock Deskmini emulator box.

[–]Wanela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any tests to see how it compares to 2400g in terms of GPU performance? I'm thinking of upgrading to a 5600g if it performs even a little better, since buying ng a GPU right now is impossible, but it looks like the GPU has fewer compute and shader units, but it is higher clocked.
