My comic shop has to move so I wanted to share my favorite memory in our old location: ten years ago giving away an Amazing Fantasy 15. I'm the guy in the red shorts and the little boy is who won the issue. We raised $10,000 for Make a Wish Nebraska.
Over the years, I’ve really tried to live my life by that particular phrase. The Amazing Fantasy 15 being given away was my personal copy. I bought it to cheer myself up when my father passed away. 15 years later, I gave it away because now I own a comic store and that means a lot more than any single issue. And, I figured, since the comic cheered me up when I was a kid, what better thing to do than to use it to raise money to help other kids hence Make a Wish :)
There’s another picture out there of me straight up jumping for joy when I see that it’s a little kid who won the issue.
I read that five times as "I'm the guy in the red shorts and the little boy who won the issue." kept going back trying to figure out how you were both. Reread it, looked at the picture again, same thing. sigh, I swear I do this more and more every year.
Anyway, awesome story! Bet that kid felt just as psyched as you guys look.
After you said this, I went back to reread what I wrote and missed the 'is' twice. So you are not alone.
