Nothing wrong with showing off your catch!

Live near a fairly major river, and also by a small lake near that river. I see these guys all the time and also Bald Eagles. My dad before he passed would always remark about how amazing it was to see these big raptors flying around now, they never saw a single big bird beyond a buzzard or two from the 60's-90's the way he put it. I guess not using DDT anymore was probably a good move.

Anyway, yeah these Ospreys will circle around and around getting lower to the water, then SPLOOSH! Come up with a fish in their claws, fly up about 30' or so, and then shake the water off like a dog in mid air! They will drop about 5-10' while doing that and then just flap once and be right back up and away. So cool.

Cameraman's boss: "make sure you get a good angle on every catch during the game"

Ah, that fish always wanted to see a game. Friendly bird helped him live his dream.

Seriously though, imagine you're a fish, swimming around, eating bugs, doing fish things and suddenly you're lifted out of the water, high into the air and then flown around over a small town high school baseball game. What a mind F-er!

Reminds me of the time I was golfing with some buddies and watched an osprey pluck a fish out of the pond near the 18th green. He was then chased around the sky by another osprey and after a few laps, he tossed the fish back in the pond. It was awesome to watch.

In all honesty this might have been me shooting, but I can't remember. I found this clip hidden away on one of my hardrives today.

The big lenses we use are either 55x or 66x im not sure which one was used for this.

Edit: Just found out I did not shoot this, one of my coworkers did. I was getting it mixed up with a bald eagle I shot at a Baseball game.

This was just posted yesterday or the day before in another sub. Checking your post history, it was not by you. Why try to claim this as your own?

I would like to think that hawk is just taking his fish buddy for a ride.

PTCM is a hub for sharing proper camera operation; capturing calculated recording angles; maintaining good camera control, general perception, also properly controlling what's in the frame. Interesting content is not necessarily a solid ground for giving praise regardless of how good the content is on its own. Stills are welcome but do try your best to credit the cameraman, please
