Alperen Sengun
Man Sengun was such a beast last night and that dunk on Collins was disgusting. As a Sengun truther, I still can’t get over how our FO drafted Primo over him 😔.
I don’t follow prospects too closely, but my ignorant pick was Sengun as well. Didn’t get that bothered by it when they drafted someone else, but that was my pick
The only thing keeping me from being too upset for now is that his defense isn’t great. Centers are the most important position on defense. If he figures it out on that end I will start openly weeping
The only concern I had about Sengun was his defense. His physicality and offensive game never concerned me. He had pretty high potential and floor all while being young.
It’s funny people still defend the Primo pick. We all wanted him to pan out especially given how high we picked him and who we picked him over. However, that pick was a wasted pick in so many aspects. Once we picked him I knew White and Murray would be gone. Not only do we not have room for them but the timeline for the Spurs have changed from soon to years away. IF Primo does pan out he might not even have much of a team around him because we wasted so many draft picks on our back court.
I’m really glad for Vassell, for some reason I feel like he’s been overlooked and he’s been playing tremendously. We have a far more balanced team than we had last year with Sochan. I’m not sure why people are so high on Keldon either but I feel like Vassell has so much more potential and is more likely to hit that potential than Keldon.
Vassell, Keldon, and Sochan should be nice pieces to build around. Whether we keep Poeltl or not, we need to continue to build around what we have instead of drafting the same position over and over again hoping we get someone decent.
In regards to the Primo over Sengun pic. From what I've come across the spurs where never interested in Sengun. On draft day they considered a trade back with the Knicks that was on the table and they considered it but in the end just picked their guy.
Didn't work out, it happens. But it doesn't seem like it was between Sengun and Primo for them and so if they could have redone it seems they would mostly have just traded back with the Knicks. I would have taken Sengun but that's just us as fans who aren't in the room and who don't go out and scout the players and no intel on what the Head coach wants.
Too many people are using Primo’s terrible behaviour to bash the front office. You can disagree with the pick but I think his bad behaviour has some of y’all’s judgement clouded.
Edit: I’m not yet on the fire Brian Wright bandwagon. We’ve amassed a decent number of picks. If we pick Scoot or Wemby, will anyone on this sub even be talking about Sengun? Another season or two can’t hurt to evaluate Brian’s plan to improve the roster.
No they just missed on their pick. The rockets record almost identical to ours so I don’t think it would affect our chances to get wemby.
