Other things I noticed:
At 33 seconds, you really get that Avicii plucky sound
The breakdown at 1:30 is so simple but so nice

I completely agree. I enjoy most of the song. But that part at 1:55 is almost jarring. Like it was just put in to extend the length of the song. I feel like this was the part avicii didn’t finish, but I could be wrong. This is the only part of the song I don’t really enjoy. Good analysis!

00:34 is unreal, it has no. 1 potential for sure, I still find it amazing how Tim could create music which was either ahead or perfectly suited for the time when it was created, simply the most talented producer of this era, no other explanation for it
I still feel that his 'True' album has elements that are ahead of the times, even today. Mans was so 4D chess ahead of most producers he just went and remixed his own album for crying out loud. On top of that, it's no accident that every time Avicii put out a hit song you'd see a bunch of other producers jack his style. So looking forward to June 6.
The Avicii by Avicii version has always been my favourite version of True. Whenever some jabronie tries to tell me he wasn't making Dance Music anymore, I'd link them it. Changed a lot of people's opinion.
I was also listening to True quite a bit over the last few weeks (spring time album for me), and it holds up still. It sounds better than some of what's being released today even.

I am probably crazy, but ...listen to the start until 23 seconds. That feels to me like classic Avicii just 100% Tim the whole intro, and then it morphs into the "new version" . Give it a listen please and see if you feel me.

Great song, not his best but definitely really catchy and has a lot of Avīci01 vibes to it.
It even has the same structure as You Be Love (Vocal-Drop-Vocal-Vocal-Drop) and is also kept really short (2:37) which is what Tim started to do with his last EP
Actually You Be Love has a like a little bridge almost at the end. I think SOS is more like Friend of mine than You be love, I mean, even both last the same.

I was sceptical when hearing the snippet in the teaser video. It was nice but didn't blow me away.
However I really like this song. It's super crisp and reminds me of the songs in Avīci 01. Not too hectic and packed but rather crisp and clean. Got a long train ride tomorrow and it's gonna be at least 50% this song for sure.
The best feeling is knowing that we don’t have to keep listening to bad quality Avicii music. We finally get a high quality amazing Avicii song! It’s like Christmas game early!
It's not just that, they're going to be on DJs decks now. I for one am absolutely buzzing for 'Heaven' to drop. I can't wait to hear the build without Nicky, I can't wait for Armin to introduce it on ASOT as Tune of the Week with the voiceovers. I think SOS was the perfect choice as the first single because the lyrics. I guess raising awareness of the mental health issues is the reason his family decide to release Tim's music. Personally, I love it. Unfinished as it is.

There's definitely an essence of Avicii in there. The lyrics, the melody and the vibe. I'm so grateful to the Bergling Family for releasing this. It's brought a smile to my face.
The lyrics are something you'd never realllllly would pay attention to or maybe stop for a second and wonder. Now they mean a lot more and the track feels a bit unfinished if that makes any sense, it misses sauce.
i like the spareness of it. it highlights the emotional content in aloe's voice.
I'm happy he's singing it, best choice...maybe i'm just picky but it does lack (for my taste) the little bells and whistles that Avicii always managed to add that made it less clinical. And maybe it's unfair to look at it that way because he is no longer here and this is the closest we can get.
Kinda disappointed tbh. I'm happy we're getting new music, but the breaks are so generic. I highly doubt Tim made the breaks in this track. Melody is cool tho :)
Feels unfinished, but I sorta like that? Given that the song was never truly finished it makes it more "him" to me, since there's not tons of elements on it, or made longer, simply to finish it.
Then again, he may have never wanted something to be released that felt unfinished. I'm happy with it and quite frankly can't give it a true critique with the emotions tied to it and all.
Edit: Also I wonder if part of this is to leave it as pure as they could and let other producer's add to it via remixes and such since there'll probably be tons.

like daveed said, discussions are always good like there will never be only positiv feedback :D but if Tim`s wish was it that SOS gets released with the rest album tracks im fine with it, like they said that Tim aimed for the 16 songs. for me personally it sounds pretty solid and im in love with it already after the first time i heard it. critic is always good and i think Kristoffer and Albin tried everything they can together with the information they got from Tim and his vision to deliver this song ^^

Yeah, but I doubt the fact that Tim would have wanted this. I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just saying my opinion. It's not a bad track by any means, and I don't want to critize a track in a moment like this. Normally, you don't even have to see the title to know it's Avicii, you just hear it. But this doesn't have any of that, hence why I'm saying it :)
The video shows that they are the exact MIDI that Tim created. So he did make the melody, but obviously it was unfinished

I enjoyed this track, so nice to know we'll get one more project from Avicii. I see the list of collaborators on this album is pretty lengthy and I hope they don't run into problems of having too many chefs in the kitchen but then again...his family totally could've decided to not approve any of this, so I consider us pretty blessed no matter what.
SOS has got a nice summer vibe in production and lyrics, it's got several popular 'summertime bangers' tropes/sentiment in it. I hope either this or at least one other track from the posthumous album will see widespread success like so many of his other songs for a last time.

First impression: some mixed feelings.
The melody is godly, as always. However the song is a little too even, almost repetive. Roughly what I initially thought about Chang a Thang. The latter has since really grown on me though, and I'm sure this will as well.
I still have to say that I'm really looking forward to the remixes. I think that True partly had the same problem. E.g. Addicted to you, Liar liar, Lay me down are songs that I wasn't particular fond of in their original shape, they were simply a little boring. However the version presented in AbA made these songs into some of his best work.
Actually I would hate if they decided to release official remixes. When I think about it, it doesn't feel right

It's a really cool track, but kinda disappointed by the drop and the length, was excepting something more special but I'm happy we get to hear one new song!

I heard a slight beat from 'you make me', I love it
Quite short but intense enough. Main verses just at intro and outro, seems a bit few but worked leaving you wanting to hear it again. Powerful and sincere message. Some verses too similar to Ed Sheeran's. Drop melody/synth is okay, specially catchy and not super short like the ones in the EP, and those beats sounds refreshing but a bit weird also. Anyway the second part of the drop in an octave higher would have been cooler.
Seems pretty clear that Tim's work has been maintained and in this musical context its a good catchy song with those meaningfull verses.
Streamed it like 30 times atleast, want to buy it on google play, but one reviewer said it was censored, that the "pound of weed and bag of blow" lyric was removed, can anyone who bought it on google play music confirm or deny this??

If you watch the short video on his YouTube account about SOS it seems like they found his MIDI, and the lyrics he wrote for Aloe Blacc. Then they built a song around that.

It doesn’t really offend me, but I was scrolling a bit trough the comments and the only thing I could see was negativity! Imagine Tim’s family scrolling trough these comments, they don’t deserve this! I think we should be a bit more grateful that we are getting new music from the legend in the first place.
I do agree somewhat. I was sort of disappointed with the comment section too. Was coming in thinking I'd find all kinds of positive comments but found a surprising amount of dislike. Most comments did seem thankful nontheless.

I disagree tbh. He doesn't have to pretend to like it just because the Artist isn't around anymore. And I dont think r/avicii needs to be such a place where it's only the "we love anything and everything Avicii touches" vibes. There are many of us that like everything he does but if there's fans that don't like some of the stuff he did that's totally fine, and I'm glad if they share it because it gives you a different perspective and ultimately makes your whole music experience better because it can shape how you see the music.

he did make quite a bit of generic mainstream music that was very good before he died. Not all of it is going to be "alcoholic," "bromance" "levels" type purist music. He was becoming a pop producer which i supported.
As much as it breaks my heart to say this, this is a mediocre song at best, I feel like it has very little going for it. Hopefully the album picks up the pace so that we get the classic Avicii sound for, and man it sucks so bad to say it, one last time.
I guess it's all about your expectations. The aim it's not to get the biggest Avicii HIT, but to allow all his fans to have a piece of what Tim was working on during his last months.
