I'm interested in planning out a game's structure and want something very ambitious after getting inspired by older late 2000s era games. My game is a platformer with 4-5 minute levels where you have to move your character across calm no death stages as a transition, but I might change that structure soon, and I'm willing to see what this subreddit thinks. What factors do I consider and where are the winning/losing points?

I'm having trouble finding reference of 2D games with a Darkest Dungeon combat style, do you guys know any reference? I'm trying to create a moodboard for a game i'm developing but I don't know loooots of games.
