Michael Fassbender is awesome in Alien Covenant.

It's one of the cases where the movie is carried hard by one single performance. Although I do like Covenant more than most, Michael Fassbender is the biggest reason. He plays 2 androids who are very different from each other and there isn't a single weak moment from hum. It's like Fassbender was a huge fan of the Alien series and was just so glad to be in Alien movies.

Walter is your regular good robot but Michael uses great voice control and minimal eye movements to sell his performance as a robot. David is deliciously evil and quoting poems left & right with gravitas. Michael is having a hell of a time as David. In Prometheus he was still kept in rein but in Covenant David is let lose and what a menace he becomes.

My favortie 2 scenes from him are:

  1. When he releases the black goo over the alien race world and quotes Ozymandias, that is a pure chill inducing moment.

  2. It's a very short scene but shows what a talent Fassbender is. He utters the line at the very end: "don't let the bedbugs bite" as he puts to cryosleep one of the crew members. That delivery & expressions along with the realization of what actually happened at the end is magnificently pulled off.

I would like to see a sequel to Covenant just for more Fassbender as David.

Fassbender is one of a few actors that never sleepwalks in his roles.

Fassbender is intense! His plane scene in X-Men Days of Future Past confronting Xavier, "You abandoned us all!" was the most gripping in the whole series for me.

Yeah, but with Snowman and Assassins Creed he’s been in some really terrible movies. Great actor, but needs more guidance on his projects.

I heard he covered his eyes in embarrassment at one of the Xmen screenings knowing fully well that he phone it in. Can't find the source but regardless he's one of my favorite all time actors. The pain, fiendishness, and addiction he was able to show in Shame was fucking brilliant.

I just watched the Steve Jobs movie again recently. I give zero fucks about the legitamacy of the movie or the story or his lack of resemblance to Jobs.

It's just a delight watching someone act that well with the dialogue and playing off everyone in the movie ; he's so good at being entirely absent and also completely in the pocket in every interaction. I love it so much.

He's even great in Jonah Hex and that movie is trash

Assassin's Creed is a better movie than most people think, and he is one of the reason's why.

He's like the polar opposite of Bruce Willis.

Speaking of, I completely forgot he was in Band of Brothers until I watched it through the other day. Quite the surprise.

Yeah, loved him in Inglorious Basterds. As A native German speaker I really liked his performance.

I would like to note that Assassin's Creed is the exception to this. What a shit movie, and equally shit performance from Fassbender.
