Rewatching Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, the math doesn’t add up

When the prince is given the rose, the narrator says that it will bloom till his 21st year. Lumiere says they’ve been that way for years, so how old was the prince when he was turned into the beast? It can’t have been more than 4 or 5 years or he would have been a child when he got cursed. So what are they saying? That the enchantress punished a child for being selfish? Of course he would be selfish, he would have been less than 10 years old. That would just be child abuse. There’s no way he could have been an adult when he was cursed, be stuck as the beast for decades, and have a flower that would only bloom till he was 21. The math doesn’t work.

Edit: in the song be our guest, it’s said “ten years we’ve been rusting”. That means the prince was 11 when he was cursed. The enchantress punished an 11 year old.

Am I wrong, or is Disney's Beauty and the Beast a perfect one shot idea.

Beloved local woman goes missing in the spooky woods. Her father returns to town frantically looking for help finding his daughter.

Adventurers set off to the rescue surviving the dangers of the forest and eventually reaching a giant castle filled with mimics. In the highest tower a fearsome beast has the woman captive.

Players have two potential options:

  1. Tear through the castle and slay the beast. Later allowing the DM to reveal that the mimics were also cursed innocents trying to protect their home and master (A dark twist, but I love it).

Or

2) Uncover the beast's secret and reverse the curse placed upon the castle, saving the occupants and allowing the woman and the cursed prince to live happily ever after.

In Beauty and the Beast (1991) Gaston used his bow in the final confrontation with the Beast instead of his blunderbuss, this is because it was raining and the gunpowder would've gotten wet making it useless.

Gaston of Disney's beauty and the Beast was the true hero of the story

Hero:

He was the utmost chad of his community. He was stronk, always exercise and knew how to hunt during a time where it was highly efficient skill to have. He wanted to be the best hunter and the popular person in town and he was, Because of desire, courage and dedication to eat right. That we have seen him do easily by eating 12 dozen eggs. He started from the bottom now his here.

Villain:

Beast was and still is a royal spoiled prince he got everything he wanted with a wave of his finger. He partied and fooled around and had knowledge beyond what the commoners could have, He had literally everything handed it too him with a silver plate. Even someone's father hostage for some insane curse she didn't even get a right to even help without being taken hostage and gotten the Stockholm treatment.

update:

+ if you actually look through the bigger picture, the town were living in a corrupt system were the prince using the taxpayers money to host parties to get some royalty puss, He literally got cursed as a monster and got forgotten and the town moved on and made an actual good socio economical structure for their own as we see since the majority were actually happy living there.

Literally the town was the most prestigious towns who managed to have an functioning system without some king or lords rule. made by the townsfolk for the townsfolk.

No wonder this time piece was set just a few years before the French revolution

TIL only three animated movies have ever received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture: Beauty and the Beast (1991), Up (2009), and Toy Story 3 (2010). All three were unable to secure the win.

Wicked or Disney’s Beauty & the Beast?

I’d like to ask the opinion of theatre fans who have seen either or both shows, for a vote. I’m tossing up between seeing either Wicked or Disney’s Beauty & the beast this July in Melbourne, Australia. Any suggestions on which is a better all round show would be highly regarded!

EDIT: We saw Wicked & I regret nothing!!! Great show. Still would love to see beauty and the beast

TIL that producer Jeffrey Katzenberg revived Walt Disney Studios by many of their biggest hits: The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. After these he requested a promotion, and was then abruptly fired by them. He then swore revenge against Disney and founded Dreamworks.
