    EDIT: Found out Ysera’s daughter is a likely green dragonflight candidate, and Ysera is hanging out in Ardenweald.

    I think her daughter will definitely be the green dragonflight leader at the beginning of the expac but I feel like they'll find a way to bring Ysera back by the end.

    When you click Ysera one of her voice lines is "I am bound to both the Dream and the Moonless Night." You can also ask her next plans and says "Once, I was bound only to the Dream. Now I am also tethered to this realm by powers I do not fully comprehend.The Winter Queen gave of her own essence to save me, and I will repay her kindness as best as I can. Yet beyond that, I can only wonder when I might return to family in Azeroth... if indeed such a reunion can ever come to pass."

    They've been calling attention to the fact that she still has very strong ties to Azeroth and Ardenweald is the only place where souls can be go back to being alive. To me, this hints that she will live again soon.

    Crazy theory time. There is a model for a giant seed/pod in the files for the next patch called the Queen’s Gift. Maybe they finally address Sargeras’ sword and the winter queen plants it there in the wound to help it heal. The seed grows into a new world tree/heart of the forest, giving Ysera a pathway to the mortal world.

    In the course of this expansion there's gonna be some kind of major threat that will require something only a living Ysera can provide, isn't there? "Champions we need you to go back to Ardenweald in the Shadowlands and use new magic maguffin to bring Ysera back to stop this evil! The Winter Queen will expect some compensation..."

      God, I hope not. Geez, let there be new characters. Really takes away from the scale of the game/world when it's always the same usual suspects, and you can just ctrl-Z deaths after milking their 'shock factor'.

      But yeah, I can see something about the seed we get from the winter queen allowing ysera to "link" herself back to azeroth through it or something.

          The fact that Dragoriding is so heavily featured everywhere makes me think

          I suspect that Dragonriding will be quite limited, especially at the start of the expansion and then with time you make your dragon have more stamina or whatever, the limit being mainly time you can fly or fly upwards.

          The nice part about that is that it's progression that goes beyond improving your personal power. Imo it would be pretty interesting if there were enemies or treasures or other things you could only find or get to if your Dragonriding is good enough and that could get pretty damn hard.

          She is called the Dragonqueen because that is how Mortals would understand her role. She is the collective leader of all dragons. This is because her domain is the domain of life itself, making her essentially the domain who most upfront fulfills the charge of defending the planet and the life on it - dragons included. This is why the Reds pick up the slack of the other dragonflights when required (i.e. after the Malygos war and picking up the slack)

          In game, honestly they've never really done much with her and she just is the one that fights Deathwing directly. In a lot of the books however, she is far more badass and cool. She is basically the only Aspect that can actually stand up to Deathwing. She is complex, both nurturing and maternal but also capable of being ruthless when required (such as to avenge her children).

          She isnt actually a queen in the literal sense. As other people have said she is one of a few specific dragons that hold great power. She is seen as a queen or a leader simply because she is more powerful than most other dragons. Iirc she fought deathwing 1v1 back in his expac and came out of it alive, which was pretty impressive since deathwing was definitely one of the strongest dragons at the time.

                How are they gonna explain this one? With Sylvanas it was, "Well they're going to war, so covering up her midriff with a piece of leather makes sense." Which I guess was fine even though we were literally always at the forefront of some sort of war. We're going to the Dragon Isles and it's supposed to be like MoP. I'd see maybe if they did it back in Dragon Soul, but this is just... Y'know... They're just removing it for no good reason. Not gonna make me hate the expac for sure, but it does bug me a little.

All these sharp fins/wings and assorted "pointy bits" everywhere just feel tacked on, there's no real 'flow' or elegance to it at all.                   Isn't that the argument for the skimpy clothes? She's got the whole 'avatar of life and fertility' thing going on, and she doesn't normally wear any clothing anyway.

                  In a more thematically-grungy tone, I think it could work portraying Alex in a Dr. Manhattan style. She takes a mortal form to be less intimidating, sure, but she's wearing the same thing she does as a dragon: just a tiara, necklace, wrist bangles and rings. So she's naked, but instead of the sexed-up supermodel poses and gestures that such a thing is usually portrayed with, she's utterly matter-of-fact about it and moves just wrong enough to be in a creepy uncanny valley at times.

                  The fertility thing is a bit of a stretch, imo. She's the Avatar of Life where in the context of WoW life is an actual force of nature that can cast spells and the like. I think her Hots model was a happy balance, but I also do prefer her outfit here, more because I see it as an actual outfit with thought into it

                    As far as armor goes.. Just like everything else Blizz does, this is an over correction. At this point, basically any armor set created is near 100% coverage. The last armor set I can think of with any amount of skin would be the Thunderlord armor from Warlords of Draenor... I assume this also the reason we haven't gotten the Night elf heritage armor.

                    The only reason Alexstrasza kept the platekini so long is because her model hasn't been updated since '08.

                    The question was raised who would take the stop of the Black Aspect between Wratheon and Ebonhorn. I see Ebonhorn not wanting to give up the life he has known on High Mountain for long g but I also see Wratheon not wanting to give up his life of adventure, there is also the fact that Ebonhorn is am adult and Wratheon only recently a drake (though whelpling Wratheon as an aspect would have been adorable).

                    It'll be interesting to see what happens. Could see a lot of Emerald Nightmare, Infinite, Chromatic and Twilight dragons make a re-appearance. If they go the route of the corrupting Dragon Aspects, the Emerald Nightmare and Infinite will for certainly re-appear. If they go the route of dragons being experimented upon, you could have a rogue dragonflight, using some of the research that the black flight had during the reigns of Deathwing during Cataclysm. More bad@$$ discarded experiments anyone?

                    Yeah, it's going to be some version of vehicle controls. Possibly with inertia and no instant stop / turn... It's going to be pretty but janky as shit.

                      It's basically the flying system from GW2: we've been able to ride dragons in WoW since TBC, but this is a far more interactive and customizable system. There's actual gameplay here, not just "press auto run and come back in 3 minutes".

                      It's apparently also going to be available early on instead of after max level w/ a fully explored map and all the hongledoodles gathered.

                      Since it's a more active system that requires a bit more gameplay interaction than regular flying it still encourages exploration and means you have to be careful about your route, but it still has more freedom and more verticality than a ground mount.

                      It also means that even if they do add normal flying later on, you might not feel as much pressure to unlock it, particularly since they said it’s supposed to allow you to travel faster than via traditional flying, if you use it right.

                          These "Marquee" features seem pretty light. Doesn't look like we're getting a Legion-level comeback for the severe lack of content in Shadowlands.

                          It is very barebones and most of the new features are taken from other MMO's.

                          Don't get me wrong, these are things that are needed. However, there is nothing unique or innovative. Crafting/gathering and dragon modding is still really light on casual content.
