I've posted a couple other threads and people seemed to like them so here you go. Background: I'm a volunteer firefighter in Cheektowaga. Been at the hall with about 10 members for going on 24 hours now. We have 22 people in our basement who who helped from there cars last night.

As of about 9am the town had gotten us payloader and we are now able to get a cheif truck down the main roads. Most side roads are impassable. We had been parking on the main street and walking to calls. However it seems the biggest problem now is that there is a barely usable path on main streets. Semi trucks think its time to go out.

We just had a crew come back and say that we are out of service again becouse there are semi trucks blocking the only cleared the pathway that was just made. It seems to me that semi trucks think that the traffic ban does not apply to them.

As of right now just listening to the radio if you are calling 911 in Cheektowaga and need assistance it will be at a minimum 30min wait we if we can get to you. We are doing what we can but stupid people are making our jobs harder. I am going to repeat what I said last night. I don't care what the roads look like please stay off the roads. The whole town is backed up with emergany calls. The situation is definitely better then it was last night (beciuse we can see) but it still is an absolute shit show.

As in typing this we just got an update that the only route to Saint Joe's hospital was just blocked by a semi. 😒

Right now the few members at our hall are exhausted. We don't have beds here people are trying to sleep on the floor. I got about 3 hours of sleep on the seat in the back of our fire apperatatus. Please if we do show up don't yell at us. We are doing our best and we are tired and hungry. We don't get paid for this.

I'm going to try walk home (I live about 5mins from the firehall) after the bills game and get some sleep in my own bed. If I don't post another update go Bills, Merry Christmas, and stay safe and warm.
