Is RPI engineering really hands-on? Is RPI engineering really hands-on?
Question

Hi, I'm deciding whether or not to go to RPI to study engineering. My major is electrical engineering. I really value gaining practical experience in engineering and I want to know more about RPI engineering. I know on the website they say students "gain in-depth knowledge in their technical fields through hands-on learning." But to what extent is that true?

Are most engineering/science classes lectures? Are freshmen allowed to do research or use the maker spaces/facilities? Do freshmen have a chance to get deeply involved in engineering clubs like Formula SAE motor sports?

I would really appreciate any of your experience or knowledge on these questions. Thank you!
