Dominion awaits, come be a hero! Like the man said: heroes get remembered, but legends never die. Step up to the plate in Hero Wars and start swinging!

Illuminated manuscript Gesso Recipe? Illuminated manuscript Gesso Recipe?

I am reading “The Illuminated Alphabet” by Timothy Noad and Patricia Seligman which gives a gesso recipe of:

12 parts of slaked plaster (dental grade)

4 parts white lead

1 1/2 parts of fish glue (seccotine)

2 parts of sugar (crystals or coffee sugar)

A pinch of Armenian bole

In my research I have noticed that just like in baking there is no universal recipe for certain common items. So this left me wondering what the other options are.
