A place for runners and athletes of any level to engage in all things running shoes and gear.
I've been searching hard for these in my size on a discount for the longest time, and finally got them for S$230 (173 USD). It's not a very good deal, but the durability will make up for it.
Got these TTS, and the fit is very roomy. The toebox area is roomy unlike my Vaporfly 2 which is snug fit, which caused me a black toe after my half marathon race last month. Fun fact, I had the OG Alphafly and it caused me the exact same black toe after a half.
My workout was an long run with a 2x 5K tempo. During my warmup run, I had to stop multiple times to get the lacing right so that they don't bite. Then I realised there was a bit of heel slippage upon loosening the laces, which disappears when I start running. I used runners knot on it.
During the workout, I felt I needed less effort when cruising (4:30/km) despite not feeling a lot of bounce. My heartrate was 5 bpm lower than with my training shoe (Speed 2). It was hard to increase the cadence though, like an AF rather than VF which encourages high turnover. During my cooldown run, I averaged a 5:25/km pace while keeping my heartrate at zone 2! Usually after a hard workout, I average 6:30/km in order to stay at zone 2. Also, the foam felt soft and bouncy even when cruising at my easy pace (5:30/km) which is not the case with my VF. The VF would need at least 4:30/km in my experience (at 50K mileage).
All in all, it was an awesome first experience in these shoes! Keeping in mind the performance and durability, I felt I got my full money's worth. I'll be using these for my upcoming first marathon in December. Will be using these for half to marathon races while saving my VFs for shorter races (1 mi to 10K). Can't wait to do more workouts in these shoes until it fully breaks in!
