While all (or most) of us love Australia for welcoming us with open arms & giving us a better way of life, supporting the Australian Cricket team brings mixed emotions to me personally at least. This, in spite of the fact that I actually like most of the present-day Australian cricketers (Cummins, Marnus, Boland, Head, Carey to name a few) and their stand on a number of social issues.

Some context here: I'm 40 and while I was too young to watch arguably the best Test team of all time (the 70's-80's Windies side), I did watch the next best thing, which was the 2000s Aussie side, who swept pretty much everyone else away with some amazing performances. Their on-field behavior (especially when things didn't go their way) however, left a lot to be desired and caused them to be generally disliked amongst the wider cricketing fraternity. Having lived in Australia for a while now, I do realise that this behavior is more of a cultural thing, I've had mates who've told much how much shit they gave their own siblings in a game of backyard cricket etc, but that's a discussion for another day.

So.. Indians/Poms/Pakistanis/Saffas/Lankans/Kiwis/<insert other Test playing nationalities here>, do you whole-heartedly support Australia when they're playing someone else? I for one am gonna be watching this Ashes series as a complete neutral, with a 'may the best team win' mentality, I'm interested to know what others who are in a similar position to me think.

P.S: I also know that who the opposition is could come into play, esp when Aus play Ind/Pak. will largely determine who they support, but that is an outlier I suppose.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I moved to Aus when I was 33, thereby making it a bit harder to support them (in Cricket at least) since I lived most of my adult life in India.

Sutherland refuses to use the C word. He will not answer repeated questions about whether it is cheating.
