MitsuruAdachi

To give context, I watched the Touch anime and really enjoyed Tatsuya Uesugi's personality. He feels very animated, expressive, and has a lot of personality to him. It was just very entertaining to watch every second of him. It just felt like he was the energy of the entire show, like how Luffy is in One piece.

Now recently, I watched Mix Meisei Story and Cross game which are the more modern Adachi titles, and I feel like Kou/Touma feel a lot more boring compared to Tatsuya? I thought they would be very similar since people talk about Adachi having the same protagonists but they definitely feel much more different. Like, they have less energy and personality compared to Tatsuya.

Could this just be the case of the voice acting being better for Touch, and the direction of the anime back when it was the 80s? Or perhaps Adachi's writing has just changed to be worse? Or maybe the writing for the characters are intended to be more realistic and Kou/Touma are meant to be less wild and expressive like Tatsuya? I do feel like Kou and Touma are a lot similar to each other, but I don't really know the actual answer to this whole thing myself. I'm hoping if you guys can share your thoughts on this.
