Microsoft wants to expedite the development of Fallout 5

https://insider-gaming.com/next-fallout-game-come-faster/

Now, it has been claimed that Xbox is hyper-aware of the anticipation for the next Fallout game and is eager to explore opportunities to make that arrive sooner rather than later.

On a recent episode of The Xbox Two Podcast, Jez Corden claimed that ‘the company is aware’ of the demand for the Fallout label, and everyone is acutely aware of how successful the next title in the series will be. At this point, one of the only avenues the company could take to speed up the development of Fallout 5 is to take it away from Bethesda Game Studios entirely. That would make it the first major Fallout game not developed by Bethesda since 2010’s Fallout New Vegas.

Something that just appeared in my mind. Settlement building is one of the main reasons I still play the game. It's why I played 4 for so long now. Ik that I'm not the only one who loves the settlement system.

Super Mutants? Ugh, why can't we have a single game without them?

No Super Mutants? Ugh, why are they pandering to these whiners, they're a staple of the franchise!

Enclave? Ugh, let them go already! They were the main antagonists in 2 games!

No Enclave? Ugh, why don't they let us see a different side to the Enclave? Or perhaps just what happened to the remnants? Bethesda is so lazy!

Settlement Building? Ugh, way to bring back this pointless and time consuming system. Were they too lazy to make this location a real settlement?

No Settlement Building? Ugh, why did they throw out that system? Building get settlements really adds to my experience and helps me connect with the wasteland!

Etc, etc.

Maybe... just maybe...

We could all take a chill pill and stop complaining about every little thing under the sun?

Every second Bethesda makes money from Fallout 76 is another second longer we won’t get Fallout 5.

Every second Bethesda makes money from Fallout 76 is another second longer we won’t get Fallout 5.

So there’s my hot take. Now, I know the next fallout game is easily what? maybe a decade out regardless of 76 because of elders scrolls and star field? But why would they if 76 continues to be profitable? How long has the wait been for the next elder scrolls game? do you honestly think that ESO and the skyrim remake had nothing to do with that wait? This isn’t a 76 hate post. This is a “I think this is last fallout game for the foreseeable future” post.

People are going to say they can do whatever they want. And if you love 76 don’t let me ruin for you. I’m happy you have a game that you enjoy. But I do think that as fans we shouldn’t be surprised if 76 is the last fallout game we potentially for the next couple of console generations. And that’s if the next fallout is even worth that kind of wait.

Edit 9/21/20: Well, Microsoft just bought Bethesda so anything’s possible guess we have to wait and see.

Edit: 6/17/24: They still haven’t even started development yet.

Had a dream that Bethesda Softworks made "Glory to the Queen", an open-world roguelike RPG horror game where you're trapped in an alternate universe where Queen Elizabeth is somehow still alive and takes over the world, and it's actually the long-awaited Fallout 5 all along:

What would you NOT want to see in Fallout 5?

Hope it's not a repost - I've seen an analogical question on TES sub the other day.

I'll start with the obvious one: the dialogue wheel from 4, no need for explanation I think.

Voiced protagonist: the same. Or, at very least, don't make a detailed backstory to a character without set personality - cause that's what doesn't work in FO4 imo, not the voice itself.

BoS: It's already featured heavily in other games, if they are the part of the game I wish they weren't the main faction.

Good and evil factions: make it shades of grey, if you can, Bethesda. Less Regulators and Talon Company (and Gunners) and more Goodneighbor, Cabots, Boomers. Make them weird!

Pushing the main quest: I liked the Morrowind style of main quest introduction: the game outright tells you that you can take your time at first. Then it unfolds and gets more and more serious and urgent. Let's be honest: you aren't gonna do the MQ first anyway, I'm pretty sure of that.

The creators of the show consider it at least to themselves as "Fallout 5".

"We didn't start from a place of characters from the games," Wagner said. "We set things after. We kind of told ourselves, this is Fallout 5, this is just another installation, and we're starting with fresh snow."

I dont know about you, but this to me rings as the actual game being much father on than anyone is really comfortable thinking about.

Fallout 5 should have Coop, but not be “multiplayer”

Fallout 5 should have Coop, but not be “multiplayer”

It seems like such an obvious leap. Instead of companions you can play with a couple other friends but on an optional basis, traditional fallout experience, not pushing away single player at all, but having a co op option. If their next game is like Fallout76 I’m done with the franchise.

Todd Confirms Fallout 5 is the game after Elder Scrolls 6

Just happened, Todd confirms that fallout 5 coming right after Elder Scrolls 6 in this ign interview link .

Obviously, this is expected but it does confirm that Bethesda won't be doing some new IP or spin-off instead.

I really hope because of OuterWorlds that Bethesda learns what fans actually like, and make a really great Fallout 5

Obsidian’s latest game The Outer Worlds looks great. The humor is on point, and the dialogue window is back. I really hope they get all the true “Fallout” elements right, and that Bethesda sees that we don’t want simplified dialogue, basic story, and minimal role play choices.

You asked for New Vegas 2: I think this is as close as we’re going to get.

[ Here’s some gameplay ]

If they made a Fallout 5 and asked you to give them ideas for features in game, what would they be?

If they made a Fallout 5 and asked you to give them ideas for features in game, what would they be?

I would love to see some Power Armor Exclusive Unarmed Combat Moves/Kills. Imagine picking up a Raider by their head with one hand and then crushing it, punching their head clean off, knocking them down and then stomping on their head, ripping off a limb, throwing them out of your way or just straight up crushing them by landing on them in Power Armor.

There should be a climbing ability in the Fallout Games. What if you could scale tall buildings to find hidden treasures or climb over that pesky rock that stands between you and your objective?

The ability to become a Ghoul or Super Mutant. These would obviously be leveled out, like Ghouls are immune to Radiation, Ferals won't attack but can't enter certain Settlements, but there could be Ghoul-Only Settlements where Humans aren't allowed, but Ghouls are. and can be damaged easier. Super Mutants have superior Strength and Damage resistance, but their Intelligence and Agility take a hit. Also, like Ghouls, they can't enter Settlements, but can enter Super Mutant Settlements. There should be someone in the Wasteland who could cure them, for a fee.

A dynamic weather and seasons system, with Overheading and Overfreezing. This will add a new way to experince the Wasteland. You would need to dress for hot and cold weather, as well as climate control your Base of Operations. A Campfire and a warm jacket can keep the cold at bay, while some fans and lighter clothes would prevent heatstroke. Being too hot or cold would drain your AP and eventually Health.

I don't know about you, but I would like the ability to repair Vaults and make them your own Personal Base or let other people live with you. I know Vault Tec Workshop exists, but I'm talking about fixing already established Vaults, not building one from scratch.

Buyable, Craftable, Stealable or Repairable Vehicles would give the Player a new way to travel the Wasteland, probably could eliminate Fast Travel with this.

(Edit) Someone commented that Fallout should adopt the Skyrim style of skill system and I could not agree more. I always thought the old skill system was kinda stupid in my opinion.
