Are there similar models to the X101CH that support ram upgrades? Are there similar models to the X101CH that support ram upgrades?

I love this model and I’m going to buy it for setting up a Klipper server for one 3d printer (with no webcam), and the X101CH sounds perfect with its dual core cpu, and fanless design. The thing I’m concerned about is the single gig of ram that is soldered to the mobo. Are there comparable models with the possibility to move to 2gb (bonus if there is one with 64bit processor and the possibility to give it 4gb of ram, that would be perfect)? Thanks in advance!

would it be possible to stuff an intel nuc into an eeepc would it be possible to stuff an intel nuc into an eeepc

might be a stupid question but suppose i can get a a heatsink and exhaust that would fit, would it be possible to but and stripped down nuc and an lvds to hdmi board inside an eeepc 900 chassis. honestly i might be overkill because id really only be using it for vsc, spreadsheets ect. but i can get my hands on a semi recent nuc cheaper then a pi 4.

Beta testers wanted for a Puppy Linux version for early eeepcs Beta testers wanted for a Puppy Linux version for early eeepcs

I've been running Puppy Linux (32-bit Bionic) on my 2 eeepcs, a 701 and a 900. Puppy runs entirely in RAM, which avoids the biggest problem with the eeepc (the glacially slow SSD), and as a result it's surprisingly fast. I've added a version of the Slimjet browser that is new enough for syncing with my Chrome browser on my desktop machine and keeps my logins for most websites, and I've replaced Sylpheed with Claws for email. I've also installed Textmaker 2018, which is a very decent word processor and comes with the standard MS fonts. Altogether this makes a very usable system for anything but high-graphics websites

I'd like some beta testing, though. When I boot this from the USB I get no icons at all; when I do a frugal install (the preferred method which among other things does not require partitioning) they're all there and so is my pretty wallpaper. I've put this together as a bootable ISO which can be burned to a USB stick. (THIS IS A REVISED ISO.) I'd really appreciate it if someone would try it and tell me the results. And if it works for you please use it with my compliments. It's amazing how good an ancient computer can be.

1215n charging issues 1215n charging issues

I got this Eee PC 1215n because I needed something cheap and portable for school ASAP, but it came with no battery and no charger. Since charger for my 1005HA which died on me is compatible I just use it with the 1215. I got a replacement battery, but it doesn't charge unless I disconnect it and put it back in while having the charger connected. I thought the battery was faulty, so the store I got it from gave me a new one, it just arrived today and the charging issue persists. Charger is not an issue, because it works just fine without the battery inserted. I also noticed that for some reason the power saving mode in Super Hybrid Engine isn't available. I saw someone suggest that bios update could solve this issue, but I'm kinda scared to do that and I'm not sure if that's the case. Any suggestions?

Edit: I forgot to mention that one time I went to HWMonitor the battery voltage was a bit off, because it was something about 11.5V insteat of around 10.5V

What do I do once my internal ssd dies on asus701 eeepc? What do I do once my internal ssd dies on asus701 eeepc?

My version of the asus 701 eeepc is lacking the mini pci port that the older models had to expand the internal storage with a new ssd. It's just bare contacts on the board in its place, so I was wondering what are my options once my internal 4gb ssd finally gives out? Ita running windows xp, which is probably writing and reading alot on that poor ssd, so I wouldnt expect much more life out of it. Usb2.0 slots are limited to only 400mbs which is far to slow to boot windows effectively, and the sdcard slot is unknown to me.

UCEEE - EEECTL Alternative For The EEE PC 901 UCEEE - EEECTL Alternative For The EEE PC 901

Hi all,

New here, but not (completely new) to EEE PCs. I found that ON THE EEE PC 901, EEECTL only worked reliably on either BIOS V1101 or V1401 (I can't remember which off the top of my head, I believe the former?) I wanted to run Yukata's modded V2103 with AHCI support, whilst still being able to overclock so developed my own C# utility in VS2010 (on a 901 no less). At the moment it only supports overclocking and underclocking between 400MHz and 1800MHz. The utility runs as a tray icon, much like EEECTL, but behind the scenes calls a series of RWEverything scripts (so I guess it's a Windows-Only thing?). It's been tested on XP SP3, but should work on newer versions of Windows too?

More info can be found on the Github I've created for it:

Feel free to ask any questions on here, and any ideas for future development are welcomed, though not guaranteed. Any issues, raise them on Github. Enjoy :)

So, I connected NVIDIA GTX660 to my Asus EEEPC 1000H and then also overclocked the CPU a bit, and now I can run Supreme Commander on it with reasonable 20-50 fps

Modern Linux distro for 900? Modern Linux distro for 900?

Hi. I have an Asus eee pc 900 which has a 32GB drive, 512MB of memory and a 900mhz Celeron M (I believe it's underclocked to around 600mhz actually). The 8.9" screen resolution is 1024x600 but with the pre-loaded Windows XP, I've been able to 'pan around' at higher resolutions such as 1024x768 and even 1280x1024. Unfortunately, Windows XP isn't very useful or safe for online tasks nowadays.

I'm looking for 32-bit distro suggestions for this meek hardware. My primary uses for the netbook are html Gmail, standard definition video playback (VLC), MP3/FLACC playback (Winamp), and Wordpress blogging/administration. If it wasn't for Wordpress, I could probably forego javascript altogether and use a browser like Dillo.

I've used Ubuntu on borrowed computers in the past. I liked the ease of use with proprietary wifi drivers and multimedia codecs but I understand Ubuntu has dropped 32-bit support and has grown too bloated for simple netbook hardware?

The ability to 'pan around' at higher than the screen's native resolution is something I'd like to keep if possible.

Thanks for your time :)

Eeepc 701 issue Eeepc 701 issue

So I got a eeepc 701 4g for $10 it had windows xp installed and I’ve tried putting Linux on it. After many attempts and issues installing the grub loader I settled on antilunix 19.1 which works.

But with it and every distro I’ve tried. At the beginning of boot it says “18042 cant reactivate kbd port” and the keyboard and track pack will not work in the os. But works fine in the bios.

Anyone ever come across this and what can I do about it?
