The ‘04, ‘07, ‘13, and ‘18 WS winning teams have all had Knuckleballers. Tim Wakefield (peace be upon him) in ‘04 and ‘07 and Steven Wright in ‘13 or ‘18 and, even though he wasn’t on the WS rosters in either year, he contributed to making it to the postseason in both years.
Therefore, the Red Sox should trade for Matt Waldron. He’s the only active knuckleballer in the MLB and is sporting a 4.35 ERA so we could get him for next to nothing. And he hasn’t exceeded his rookie limits so, based on his numbers we’d be paying him league minimum maybe a little more. Even if he is just a good luck charm it’s worth the risk.
