What is a good fantasy adventure anime with no video game logic?

I really enjoy fantasy anime but it feels like nothing new is being released for it that doesn't incorporate video game logic into it in some way. Honestly, I liked Sword Art, but I hate what it's done for the genre because it seems like before it, that type of aspect was non-existent and now you can't go anywhere without seeing it.

That's not to say there should be zero game logic at all. For instance, I do like Goblin Slayer and the aspect of rolling for death saves was really cool. I also enjoyed Solo Leveling because it feels like the game logic there has a purpose. In the case of Solo Leveling, it feels like the system has it's own agenda and using that system is just the easiest way to guage Jinwoo.

Another anime that does it well is Grimgar. This show has levels and game logic and all that but it doesn't shove it down our throats. In this, it's there as a tool to showcase just how weak our main characters are.

What I am trying to avoid are shows like The Rising of the Shield Hero or Shangri-La Frontier.

Some anime that I've seen that follow this criteria are:

Solo Leveling

Mashle

Tsukimichi - Moonlit Fantasy

Frieren - Beyond Journey's End (perhaps the best example of what type of fantasy I am looking for though not opposed to more action)

Jobless Reincarnation

Black Clover

Goblin Slayer

Fire Force + Soul Eater + Soul Eater NOT

Fullmetal Alchemist + FMA: Brotherhood

Ranking of Kings

The Faraway Paladin

Ascendance of a Bookworm (I also do not mind slice of life fantasy series)

The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent (or romances)

Yona of the Dawn (Really enjoyed this one)

The Heroic Legend of Arslan (Really enjoyed this one too. Sad they both ended on such huge cliffhangers)

Kingdom

Plunderer

The Saga of Tanya the Evil

Fate/Zero + all the rest of the Fate series (and even the knock off Juni Taisen)

Restaurant to another World

Handyman Saitou

One Punch Man

Grimoire of Zero

Record of Grancrest War

Kino's Journey (and can't remember the title but the one with the Witch Elaina as well thats very similar to this one)

The Irregular at Magic Highschool

The Seven Deadly Sins (enjoyed it at first but it kind of just fell off for me. Story got stale imo)

Attack on Titan

Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tale, etc.

The entire Gundam series + The entire Code Geass series + Aldnoah Zero + Legend of the Galactic Heroes (though if more space/mecha type fantasy, wouldn't mind knowing about those either)

And honestly this list could go on a lot more but I think the idea comes across. I tried to list as many popular ones as I could because I know people will suggest them. If you don't see it on the list, don't hesitate to suggest it as it is possible I haven't seen it. Currently looking at two titles to dive into which are Hero Tales and Scarlet Nexus so anything like those would also be welcome.

Something to keep in mind, if you are going to suggest something with fanservice to me, please ensure that whatever fan service is in it is of adults. I do not want to see anything with kids sexualized. So keep that in mind if using something like Jobless Reincarnation as a base for recommending something please. There is a reason I can't rewatch that show from the beginning and it's because it grosses me out. Even Highschool girls is out. I don't need to see the chest jiggles of 15-16 year old girls. Strictly 18 or older for whatever fanservice is shown.

Looking forward to seeing what people suggest!

I really like Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, Sailor Moon, and a lot of others. I like the music, the nostalgic tone, the art style, all of it. However I feel like I've already seen all of them. What are some good ones that aren't on this list?

This Demo makes me feel like I'm playing a cool adventure anime!

I loved the demo. I'm more of a story gamer and what I see seems interesting. However it seems that we just fight as Gran and let the party members do their thing. Quests seems like they will be the highlight then because we can control the actions of other characters.

The one con I have is that I cannot keep up with the combat visuals besides SBA chains. There is so much going on in the screen and I can't see the cool moves of my party members well. How do you guys get used to it?

Adventure Anime with either a scifi or fantasy setting

I recently watched and enjoyed {Scrapped Princess} after being suggested it by the only person that responded to my thread last week u/slaxophone <3 but yeah I'm currently trying to find something else to watch.

I also recently watched {black bullet} after that because I'm trash but eh accept that I am lol.

But yeah I'm basically just bored and trying to find something to watch. Multiple suggestions are welcome.

Looking for sweet, light hearted magic/adventure anime suggestions please?

Looking for a light hearted and sweet anime that makes you smile and say "awwwe" and is similar to "By the Grace of the Gods" with adventure, magic and maybe some romance. Absolutely NO dark/horror/psychological/tragedy (aside from the standard isekai trope with the MC or other character killed and reborn into another world) please! Thanks for any and all suggestions! All the best to everyone & stay Healthy, Happy, and Safe!

Fantasy adventure anime

I'm looking for recommendations for a fantasy and adventure type animes that does not have the same trope as the usual fantasy adventure anime you'd find like the protagonist being stupidly dense and is alway embarrassed and the girls all fall in love with him etc. I'm just looking for something that portray the characters as normal without all those kind tropes.

Adventure anime with romance sub plot

Ok I’m gonna be extremely specific on what I want:

• For the adventure part I don’t rly mind it jus has to be good

• The MC and main girl/boy meets up and go on adventure with friends ( group of ppl)

• The main characters is kind, shy, not a tsundere

• Love rival- I would prefer one but if there is one then I don’t want to be one where I start liking that character better than the main girl/boy.

• They end up together at the end

• There should be a development of their romance and not like DanMachi where the main girl is barely even in any of the episodes.

• I prefer if they kissed at least once

• Around 24+ episodes

• I’m only currently making my MAL but for notice I have watched A LOT of anime so the popular series I know all of you are thinking of I have already watched. (E.g Seven Deadly Sins)

I’m not sure if this is too specific but thx in advance

Hello, I'm looking for older stuff in the same vein as Record of Lodoss War and Those Who Hunt Elves, generally anything involving a fantasy world and adventurers traveling through it. Thank you

My least favorite death scene in Jojo's Bizzare Adventure(Anime-Only)

Now, JJBA is known for its impactful death scenes, as well as an apparent lack of plot armor for both the villains and the heroes of each part, providing a heightened sense of tension. Some good examples of this would be Caesar in part 2, Abbachio in part 5, as well as Shigechi's death in part 4. Each of these took place in high-stakes situations, served an important purpose to the plot, and had a proper set-up.

The same cannot be said for Narancia's death at the end of part 5. To break it down, I'm gonna add context for those who may have not yet watched Jojo yet. My main problems with it aren't in the actual death, but squarely within:

The Setup

It's a tense moment. The protagonists have swapped bodies with each other. Problem is, the main villain Diavolo is also hiding within one of their bodies. There's a sense of unease, as there is no discernable way of knowing what he'll do next. The main goal of team Jojo is to find out who's body Diavolo was hiding in, and we know that if anyone dies, it will be unexpected and sudden, due to Diavolo's power.

At this point, Araki has done a great job of setting up the stakes, as well as an environment in which no character feels safe. This, however, doesn't last long because of what Narancia says to Giorno.

When I get home, I'm gonna go to school... It might be cool to let the guys make fun of me for being dumb... and i wanna eat some fresh, hot pizza! An authentic margherita from my hometown, naked over an oak fire, with porcini mushrooms on top!

I mentally logged out after this line.

This speech deflates all the tension from the scene, as we now know exactly who is going to die next. Unlike other deaths that we could see coming, like Abbachio's, the scene doesn't work because most of the drama lay in the fact that we didn't know who would be the next target.

The Death

So we've established that Narancia is gonna die next. Great. Well, at least we now get to see how Diavolo is gonna kill him without alerting the others, right?

Wrong. Araki proceeds to write around King Crimson's powerset to kill him off, in a way that I have neither the energy nor understanding to explain.

The aftermath of the death wasn't that good either, as he gets a sad death scene and then is immediately forgotten about for the rest of the part until the rolling stones part, in a moment that I can only describe as a cameo appearance.

All in all, his death was extremely underwhelming and left a bad taste in my mouth that stayed with me until the end of the part. But at least Araki learned from this and never made a death scene this bad ever again.

Except for Hot Pants, Wekapipo, Kaato Higashikata, Kei Nijimura, and finally, the kid who died to a fucking cold.
