Never really got why people want a second season. It had a perfect ending already. Anything more would be a disservice to it and the final message

For sure. It's actually my favorite anime of all time, but I still wouldn't want a second season. Part of the beauty of the show was how well it delivered its message in one cour

Only an OVA would work for the series. The goal has been reach so if there was a new work, it would either be a retelling, side story, or an aftermath that takes place in the distant future.

I agree, the best anime tell a complete story but leave you yearning for more. If they made additional stories it would just take away from it.

I also like stories that leave the ending kind of ambiguous or melancholy for the same reason. If its all neatly tied up at the end there is nothing left to think about.

Closest we're getting for now is Goodbye DonGlees, which has a lot of the same staff.

Edit: May as well repeat my point from an older discussion. There's a chance that DonGlees is [a shadow sequel, in the sense that] Megumi at the end of Universe said she was going to the arctic. DonGlees has a chunk that happens in Iceland, so the odds of running into her up there are greater than zero.

Fun fact: The real life cities used for majorities of scenes for A Place Further Than The Universe (this one), Miss Kobayashi’s Maid Dragon, Lucky Star and Nichijou, plus Tokyo Sky Tree, all lies on the same railway line.

Aww man! That's practically the direct opposite side of Tokyo relative to where I live! Furthermore, that part of Saitama isn't as pretty or as picturesque as the western side like Chichibu, Kawagoe or Hanno. It's just a satellite town full of Tokyo commuters with no tourism value! So I have no real excuse to drag my wife along on a long train ride there other than Maid Dragon!

I really like the art style, particularly those white lines surrounding parts of the characters and making them stand more.

Nice. I'd really like the creators to tell another grounded adventure with a new cast, sort of as a conceptual sequel, with similar feels, struggles, and excitement and most importantly, a well-earned and satisfying ending for well-developed characters. In another location, like South America, or Africa. This was a 10/10 show (for me) and I want more real-world adventures.

I'm guessing all the objects they are holding or wearing are local products of Tatebayashi. The designs are so specific that they have to be.
