Best musical scene in a non-musical movie?

So there are a lot of movies that aren't musicals but still have one or two musical numbers, so I would like to hear some of your favorites.
My personal pick (and the reason why I wrote this post) is the "Earth Angel"/Johnny B. Goode" scene from Back to the Future; it's just so great and really sets the mood, especially after George finally kisses Lorraine!
Honorary mention: the parade scene in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"

Which Disney movie deserves a musical?

Out of every Disney movie that has not yet been adapted into a stage version, which movie would you choose? My personal choice would be the Princess and the Frog. The musical style is already great and I'd love to add more. It would also be a dream of mine to play Raymond on stage.

What is the best movie musical?

I think we can all agree movie versions of musicals are usually not as good as the original, but which do you think did the best at either staying true to the original (while still being enjoyable) or putting it's own new flair on it (while still being enjoyable)?

What is your favorite musical scene from a non musical movie?

I was just reminded of the brunch scene from "My Best Friend's Wedding" and this was probably the most realistic scene I've seen where they break into song.

Ferris Bueller has a similar scene that works with the Parade, but I'd say movies like Scott Pilgrim vs The World wouldn't count quite as much because there are several scenes in the film like that.

Any other examples where this happens in a film in a way that works?

What's your favorite "borderline" Disney musical film?

So by "borderline" I mean a Disney film that has around 2-4 original songs maximum in the movie, but the vast majority of the film doesn't contain many songs- i.e., not as many as something a movie like Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, or Frozen.

Great Mouse Detective (contains 3 original songs) would probably get my pick. I love Vincent Price as Ratigan and "World's Greatest Criminal Mind" is just an awesome villain song.

Runner-up for me might be Aristocats- even though it's sort of mediocre as a movie, just for the "Everybody Wants to be a Cat" song alone I have to give it some love- that song SLAPS and all the covers I've ever heard of it (especially the electro swing version) are fantastic.

(I would go with Robin Hood over Aristocats, but it has more than 4 songs, so I felt like it was more of an actual musical film in comparison)

Movie you’d turn into a musical

What's a movie you'd love to see turned into a musical? My dad has been asking this question and I always say Truman Show. We've planned out an opening song playing on a sing-songy thing that's like “if I don't see you later today, ‘good afternoon, good evening and goodnight!’” Truman bursts through and says stuff about his life. And after a scene of Christopher talking about this master piece.

There's a fast-paced song when they drive across the bridge and through the fire between Truman and his wife arguing.

A song about his best friend and his breaking up with the audience singing in the background, reacting to the situation.

There's a song after the intermission where Christopher is in his office and people are banging loudly on the door. It's the free Truman people. They have a big fighting song before they come to a compromise and its overall very cool.

There’ll be a song about his wife advertising a product with ensemble before Truman grabs a knife and threatans her and whatnot.

There’ll be a ‘scary song’ while he's on sea and he's panicking. When he gets to the door stairs, Christopher will appear on stage and will give a speech on why he should stay blah blah and Truman and S the show either singing or speaking (with a reprise of the intro song in the background) saying his final “good afternoon good evening and goodnight” before closing the door. The orchestra does a big + powerful reprise before ensemble comes out and sings slowly the “gagegn” before a big “its. The. Tru. Man. Show!!!!!!!!”

We blocked out more but that's the main parts. Anyways, some movies you'd love to see as musicals!

I think Hairspray is the best movie-musical adaptation, but there's many other great ones as well.

What underrated movie deserves a second life as a stage musical?

Musicals based on movies. We love to hate them, we hate to love them, but at this point, there's no avoiding them. Sometimes already beloved cult classic films translate to beloved musicals (Legally Blonde, Heathers, Beetlejuice). Sometimes musicals based on the very best movies flop spectacularly (Almost Famous? Clueless? Never met them).

But my very favorites of this genre are the ones that start their lives as little known or imperfect movies, and create something way more amazing than the original! I mean, who'd even watched Dogfight before Pasek and Paul? Who knew how good Newsies could be? And don't get me started on the brilliance that transformed a minor 50s Swedish sex comedy into the masterpiece that is A Little Night Music!

So let's play a game: you're a producer, and you get to fund a musical based on any underrated movie you'd like. What are you funding?

(For the record, my money's going to an adaptation of Grosse Pointe Blank or Anna and the Apocalypse... maybe Pan's Labyrinth if I'm opening the list up to slightly more famous movies)

By original, I mean it’s not based on a existing stage musical. My pick is La La Land.

Favorite soundtrack from a non musical movie

Excluding musicals, and musical-based movies like Bohemian, Rhapsody, Elvis, etc had the best soundtrack that fit the movie perfectly? It can be a mix of original and pre-recorded or completely original or just a good set of choices that made the movie really pop. My choice has to be Baby Driver, I love the way they remixed/recoded some old classicss, added some original pieces and the music was really tied into the storyline.
