I completely agree. The director knows how use tone and atmosphere to get under your skin without using actual jump scares and that says a lot about a filmmaker. What happened to the BioShock project tho?

IIRC Verbinski pulled out when he had to make it PG13 and the project went into development hell.

Yes! After Verbinski left, another director was brought in to take over, but apparently Ken Levine wasn't impressed and was given the the ability to pull the plug on the movie at any time, so he did.

I guess it was a good thing though. I hate to say it, but I'd rather have no Bioshock movie than to have a mediocre one.

it was visually great and the concept was interesting, but it was completely boring and lifeless outside of that

As I recall the reason they canceled the proposed bioshock movie was the cost of the sets and environments was going to be astronomical

Such a wtf movie. Loved it. Could see how the guy could've made a good movie from bioshock.
