Don’t smoke on a plane

Had a first today. I’ve flown over 2M miles in 10 years all on UA and thought I’d seen it all. SEA-ORD. Lady boarded very late and could tell she’d be a problem. Very rough looking and kinda strung out and as soon as she boards she jams her physical boarding pass into the guys face that’s sitting in front of me in Row 1. Says “where’s my seat??” And he just says um you’re in 28 so way back there and she snatches it back and keeps going. Halfway through the flight the FA gets on the intercom and says “I’ve never thought I’d need to say this but DO NOT SMOKE CIGARETTES ON AN AIRPLANE. To the woman who just smoked a cigarette in her seat you are in violation of federal law and will likely be on a lifetime no fly list. The police will be waiting for you when we land” suddenly the cabin filled with the smell of cigarette smoke. As we’re approaching ORD he said many times everyone please stay seated. I know some will still pop up when we pull to the gate but please stay seated so we can let the police board. Sure enough like 15 idiots stand up so he gets on again yelling at the to stay seated. 4 cops board and go all the way to back and haul this lady out. FA in 1st told me she was alone in her row in the back and just lit a cigarette and got halfway through it and became very combative when the FAs snatched it and put it out. I’ve seen every medical emergency you can imagine, diversions, emergency landings in middle of nowhere, you name it. Today was my first experience of someone lighting up mid flight. Fun times.

Lost logbook on Southwest :(

This is a long shot, but I have to try.

I was on Southwest flight 2877 from KDEN to KJAX. I looked through my flight bag just now and was shocked to not see my log book. I’ve torn my apartment apart hoping I just moved it out of my flight bag last night but have yet to locate my book.

I was sitting on the right side of the plane behind the wing. It could be on the floor, in a seat back… god only knows.

My personal information is inside of the front cover and the spine is noticeably worn. I have a little over 750 hours logged inside, with all my endorsements and checkrides contained within.

I’m obviously disappointed in myself and a bit lost right now. If you or someone you knows works for Southwest I beg you… please reach out and see if they can take a quick peek around the airplane, it would be worth the world to me and I will be more than happy to offer a cash reward for the time they took to look.

I have already submitted a report to Southwest through their website, but I’m trying to utilize any resource available.

For better or worse I really appreciate any help that is provided.

Edit:

This group is incredible. I’m still looking for the logbook but I can tell yall, if it is on that airplane it will be found!

I have all my hours on LogTen and was updating my hours while on the flight. Never again will I update hours outside of my house. If I do get lucky enough to get this log book back I’ll take pictures of every page and endorsement.

To the pilots out there building hours. Please learn from my mistake and ensure you have a digital logbook with an actual digital copy of your actual pages.

Sky club cheese

So funny thing… Couple of weeks ago I was in Atlanta. They had an absolutely fantastic cheese. I asked the guy what it was, he said he wasn’t sure but he tried to find out. So he went back to the kitchen.

One of the other staff overheard me going on about how good it was. He looked at me and smiled and said you know just take a Starbucks cup and fill it up and take as much home as you want. my jaw dropped, it was clearly a really expensive cheese. And of course, I took him up on it.

As I was walking out of the club, the chef came out, carrying the discarded cellophane. It was an extra old mimolette. I probably walked out of there with $20-$30 of cheese. Apparently MSP is ultra protective of their bananas, but Atlanta doesn’t care about $50 a pound cheese.

Fun through a weather delay.

Sitting in the main cabin and a first time flyer (told his seat mates) right behind me is on the phone telling AA they are going to refund him his entire fare due to him missing work tonight that he’ll be reprimanded for. To the poor CS agent taking the call I apologize for your pain and suffering.

For context we’re flying out of SAT to DFW at 1:10pm 4/28 on the backside of a series of extreme thunderstorms that stretch from Texas to Michigan and right in our flight path. His response to the captains announcement was to yell “I have a 33min connection how are we just now learning we’ll be 30min late” and mean yelled it.

Oh to be young and entitled again.. I wish him luck on the connection..

Apparently CS just told him they’ll hold the plane for him… 😂 touché to the rep for getting him off the phone…
