How to “come out” as an astrologer/someone who likes astrology?

Hi,

I’m having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that not only do I like astrology, but I also believe in it.

What will be even harder is for the people around me to know that I believe in it and would one day like to devote myself to studying it and practicing it. (For the first time in my life, I want to go to college!) I’ve heard their opinions on astrology and the people who believe in it, and none of it has been positive.

How do I tell the people in my life that I like astrology without them demonizing me, treating me like I’m stupid, or worse? Keep in mind I have no idea how they would actually react, but I assume it wouldn’t be positive based on what I’ve heard them say about astrology so far.

How to find a good Astrologer

Greetings,

I am relatively new to this community, so I kindly ask for your patience. I am in search of a competent astrologer who can create my chart and provide accurate readings. How does one go about finding a reliable astrologer? What criteria should I consider when reaching out to one? I am aware that there may be imposters or less experienced individuals claiming to be astrologers, so I am hoping to connect with a well-educated and proficient individual who can give me proper guidance. Any advice would be greatly

Thank you very much and happy new year to you all!

“I was told by an astrologer.. now help me Reddit”

I see this kind of post so often on the different astrology forums here on Reddit, that starts with a person going to an astrologer and getting the most unprofessional service of mankind “I was told I never would have kids/get married/get a job/I was doomed” and have gotten these fatalistic and horrible messages. Now it’s up to Reddit to clean up the mess of this so-called-astrologer. Being trained in the field myself and have meet a bunch of astrologers, to me it just sounds very unlikely that a professional astrologer actually would give consultations like that. I’ve noticed a lot of people get unsatisfied when they don’t get chart readings on Reddit’s astrology forums so honestly I can’t help but thinking if it’s a trick way to get a reading by getting empathy because of a maybe fictional horrible readings. Like as professionals we don’t want people to have that impression of their chart and of the field of the astrology, so we aid to help. Or is there really such horrible astrologers out there? And why don’t these people go back to the astrologers for clear ups instead of using Reddit? I’m sorry if this offend someone that actually have had such a bad experience it’s just that is doesn’t at all resemble the impression I have of the astrological field and these posts gives astrology and astrologers a bad rep and we’re already often being challenged by society to prove us self and our craft so I find it to be damaging if it doesn’t in total represent the experience of the reading - if there even was one.

Tarot reader/astrologer knew I was a witch

I recently got a Tarot reading and this particular person also uses astrology. At one point during the reading she was reviewing my natal chart and said, "I don't know if you identify as a witch...you probably are."

I couldn't help but laugh (cackle?). It also lifted my spirits since I've been kinda down and feeling un-witchy as a result.

EDIT: I'm very critical of "psychics," and I'm aware of cold reading techniques, so I know she could have been saying that to make me feel "special" and get a repeat customer. But from what I know of her, she is also a witch and appears to be an ethical reader and just a genuine person in general, which is why I chose her for a reading. I shared this story because I thought it was a funny encounter with a fellow witch.

I'm always going to do what I want in my life. And I don't base my life decisions off of readings. I do these readings for context, a different perspective, a possible truth but my rule has always been to never make life decisions based off it.

EDIT: Nothing bad has happened between him and I since we got back in touch recently. So no I wasn't going to them over and over because something bad happened and I wasn't listening to them. Things are going well and I just wanted to share it with them. Didn't think they would take what I thought was good news so offensively.

My astrologer told me that I will never ever EVER get what I want from life.

A couple of years ago, a vedic astrologer told me that I will NEVER ever EVER get whatever I deeply desire or want. She was very emphatic about this. I am at a critical point in my life: (1) my partner and I are trying to conceive (and have come across multiple medical and other issues in making this happen); and (2) I am in the running for a fantastic job that could potentially make my life and financial stability much much better. Given how badly I want both these things to happen (particularly 1), her words come to haunt me again and again? Is she right? Am I never to get what I want and should i just make my peace with that?

Wondering about the Upcoming November 19th eclipse? Excellent Info from Kaitlin Coppock, a well known astromage/astrologer

Hi All,

There is much discussion about eclipses and whether or not they are good or bad. Traditionally, they are not considered auspicious, they are considered malefic. Here's a great article by reputable astro mage Katlin Coppock about why eclipses are not considered ideal times for abundance/prosperity spells as well as some great tips for good practices to observe during the upcoming November 19th eclipse. Hint: it's a great time for meditation, reflection, and cleansing, especially while focusing on protective dieties. The Durga and Lord Shiva as Daksinamurti are traditional dieties to meditate on when the eclipse is near the North Node, as it will be on the 19th. If you do not work with Hindu dieties, work with whomever you are most comfortable who is also protective. Thor and Zeus both have connections to Lord Shiva, both by being the God of Lightning in their specific pantheons.

I Paid a Professional Astrologer To Read My Birth Chart and I am Skooketh (cross post)

( I posted this in r/astrology as well. In case it gets deleted (I read the rules, but it seems like theres always ones you didnt read) , I am posting it here as well.)

Today I had a chart reading with a professional astrologer. I dont know what I expected going in, but it definitely exceeded my expectations. I am usually a mouth-runner (Gemini) but today I just sat a listened for a little over an hour. Entranced by how accurate it was. We want to believe that alot of things in our lives just happen to happen at certain times. They dont. Alot of our personal struggles, growth, limitations etc are written in details in the stars.

The Starting Point

Recently Ive gotten back into astrology. Before Id only ever known about sun signs like most people. I cant figure out what caused me to suddenly get reinterested in Astrology. But from what the astrologer said, it seems to have been sparked by a moon eclipse a few months ago. Though I cannot accurately pinpoint the time.

Anyway, I found my natal chart. Found my signs. Found my houses. Scoured the internet. Read any and everything I could about all my placements etc. I felt most fit me like a glove. I looked up my dominant planets on Astro seek, and was surprised to see Pluto as the most dominant. And Saturn as dominant as Mercury (I have 4 inner planets in Gemini). Which initially didnt make sense to me. However, I recently started paying more attention to my aspects. Saturn Sextile Pluto, Pluto Square Moon, Pluto Trine Mars descriptions knocked me on my ass with how accurate they were.

I had no idea how much these two outer planets played in my life. But because I am NOWHERE near competent enough in astrology to get a clearer understanding, I decided to use a professional astrologer.

The Astrologer

I decided to go with Ray Couture. I saw him for the first time in a Youtube video. He was asked to guess the sun signs of 12 people. He got most of them wrong. But what stuck with me is how he interacted with and talked to people. Just all around likeable and perceptive. I found his website. Send a message. He responded promptly. And we set up a meeting.

(Side note: It just dawned on me as I was typing that that Youtube video that I watched with Ray Couture guessing the signs is the spark that got me back into astrology. I remember I watched it 4 or 5 times within a week. Then I fell down the rabbit hole.)

The Reading

The reading was carried out on zoom. Before the meeting he sent me a personalized natal chart. In the beginning he asked he generally what I knew about astrology. I guess to gauge how much detail he needed to use when explaining certain concepts.

He did not ask about my job, occupation, relationship status, family, background etc. He never asked about any of these things. So he had none of this information.

He merely started to explain the birth chart. From the moment I was born. Through my ages of development (child, teenager, young adult, mature adult (age 31). The relationships I had with my parents. The treatment, trials and tribulations Ive endured etc.

During the reading I remained completely silent. Just listening. When Im focused on listening I can be really impassive. No facial expression. No movement. So it wasnt like he was reading my body language or responses and just extrapolating.

It was about 97% accurate.

Main Points

I will not go into all the points. Just the ones that stood out the most to me.

1️⃣ First: Feeling like I dont have a place, am not good enough and realizing I need to learn to love myself before I realize my full power.

This one struck hard. It had occured to me about a few years ago. To say fuck it and love myself despite my life being chalked full of instances and experiences telling me that I need to change some big part of me to be accepted.

I rub people the wrong way. Ruffle feathers. Intimidate? Bother? Annoy? Aggrevate? I dont know the word for it. But Ive found throughout my life that something about my energy really attractive poor treatment from other people. People being snarky to me, passive aggressive, choosing me last, third wheeling me etc. Basically not giving me the same considerations, that Ive seen everyone else get and give, but not me. Like Ive seen people be nice to everyone but not me even though Ive never done anything to them to receive or warrant that treatment. This has been a HUGE theme in the first 28 years of my life.

But a couple of years ago I said fuck it. I am what I am. If I unsettle other people, thats on them. Im not for everybody, I guess. Im not a liar, thief, criminal, backstabber, unreliable or selfish etc. I am not nor have I ever been any of those things. Ive never had these claims even made about me. But for some reason I remain a terrible energy to alot of people. But if certain people cant see my value, I am not going to focus on it. And instead just live my life.

I now realize that this is seemingly common among people with Plutonian energy.

The astrologer said that in order for me to realize my final desire of finding acceptance, it must first come from me accepting who I am and loving myself. And that the rest, everything else, will follow. VERY TRUE.

2️⃣ Second: That I book out of or leave situations and people completely when it no longer suits me anymore. And that I am currently planning an exit right now (👀 I am).

He said he was not surprised to see me so far away from my hometown. And, in his words, living in a place where I can finally find acceptance and the feelings of value.

I was the middle child of 3 girls from my mom. Middle of 5 girls from my dad (dad has two other daughter one older then me, one younger). I was always, somehow, the least looked after, least supported, least chosen child. Absent father (he was present, but never lifted a finger to help raise or finance our lives). My mother was a drug addict. Crack.

I was the first in my family to go to college. I was dropped off. Never returned to my hometown. Left it all behind 100%. Moved overseas at 22 and never spoke to my family again. Never told them where I was going. Never went back. Nothing. And all the drama, and dysfuction stayed back there with them. I laid that shit to rest.

Apparently this behavior of up and leaving and moving on and transforming is written in my natal chart. Tied to my descendant in Sagittarius in the 7th house.

Currently I am planning another exit (as he saw in my chart). It is from my currently job. Ive known my boss for almost 9 years. We have worked together this whole time. Just the two of us. In the beginning, I thought she was a caring, hardworking person (which she is) but came to realize that she has been using me to her advantage, subtly trying to control me, and taking advantage of me. Shes a future faker. Butters you up with promises. Will even go through the steps of looking like shes going to fulfil them, but then when its time to shit or get off the pot. She gets off the pot.

My first retrograde in January 2019 woke me up to this and alot of other things. It kicked my ass into gear (at the time I didnt realize it was because of Saturn return) and I started pouring all of my time into improving my life, getting my shit together. Working on changing my visa status. Working on a business plan. Trying to lose weight. It was like I was asleep for 29 years. I couldnt see the situation clearly in front of me for years. And now I am making up for lost time over the last year. And about to excise a malignant person from my life.

He was absolutely right about me being on the way out. 2020 has seemingly thrown a wrench in the plans for my exit strategy, but I have come to realize it is all merely the malefic Saturn giving me obstacles to overcome. And only through them will I better myself.

(Sidenote: Saturn has been the thorn in my side for the last 28 years. I used to really spend a lot of time feeling sorry for myself. Resenting having to travel a road harder than others (from my perception). It seemed like every time I tried to do even the simplest thing, obstacles would pop up everywhere. Of course, I overcame all of them. About a year ago I suddenly realized how much all these obstacles challenged me for the better and now when one pops up I am ready to tackle it without temporarily feeling defeated.)

Ray told me that there was something that I was unclear about, uncertain in my plans that will be made clearer in November 2020 when my moon goes through its final eclipse for the year. I am pretty excited to see what that eclipse will bring.

3️⃣ Third: It was not very sign focused at all.

Houses are way more important than I realized. Until now I havent really been paying attention to houses. Ray mostly touched on placements, what degree they were in, which houses they belonged to, and how that all interacted with the progression(?), outcome(?) in my natal chart. I have some empty houses and yet they are still doing big work in my chart.

He also spoke alot about the outer planets. The only inner planet he touched on frequently was Mars and the Moon. Which again, I was surprised by because from what I can see online, alot of people at the beginner stages of astrology focus heavily on inner planets, but for me specifically the outer ones (Saturn, Pluto, Neptune and Uranus) have been more influencial in my life.

Finally he spoke about aspects (funnily enough, only the ones I personally feel the strongestl and how they intermingled with other aspects and planets.

Overall Experience

10/10 would recommend and would do it again. My Saturn Return ends in December 2020 but I am planning on getting a projection reading for 2021 at the end of this year. I feel like there is so much to unpack still. Like I am still reeling from the experience. I want to learn even more about astrology now. Not just for myself. But to analyze the the people around me. I feel like that would really benefit my interactions with people in the future.

I paid a total of $110 for a 75 min reading. Custom Birth chart file. And he sent me a recording of the reading so I can go back later and go over certain points that he brought up again.

I see people posting their charts on Reddit all the time asking other people to analyze it. No one is going to invest the time it takes to read a chart fully for FREE on Reddit. It requires decades of knowledge to do it accurately.

Posting your natal chart online is the equivelent of hanging your dirty laundry out for everyone else to see. That is also the reason Ive decided not to include my own birth chart within this post.

If you are really curious, serious and would like to know more about your natal chart, the past and the future, I would definitely recommend investing in a professional astrologer.

Are you a modern or traditional astrologer and how strong are Saturn, Uranus and Neptune in your Chart?

I guess it’s not a new concept but I’ve been wondering if people who lean more towards traditional astrology may have more Saturnian influences in their Charts (and less Uranus and Neptune) while people leaning more towards modern astrology have stronger Uranus (and Neptune) and maybe less of a Saturnian influence.

I, myself, have a very earth heavy Chart (Cap AC, Taurus Sun + stellium, Virgo Moon), however I have Neptune/Uranus smack on my AC, trining Sun and Moon.

Saturn is my Chart Ruler and squares my Sun, however, it’s in Aquarius (which could be considered progressive and less traditional) and it’s intercepted.

I practice modern astrology but find traditional astrology interesting as well

What‘s your take on this? Modern or Traditional? Saturn vs. Uranus/ Neptune

My theory:

  • Saturn = traditional

  • Uranus = modern

  • Neptune = more modern, but also more accepting of merging both view points

Worst Experience with an Astrologer

I've dedicated my life to providing people with accessible, inclusive and non-critical astrological readings. But before I became an astrologer, I had multiple readings that were just horrible. I know many people have been made to feel less than due to their chart placements. In the comments, you're safe to rant about your experience or tell a story about your unpleasant astrological readings.

An astrologer told me something very disheartening

I had my first in person, long astrology reading done the other day. This guy had been recommended to me as a great astrologer. My main dream in life and something I’ve always felt deep in my heart that is for me has been relocating to one country I love. I had spent my entire life feeling like I belong there, went there for 1.5 years and all of my assumptions came true. I felt at home. I had to leave because I didn’t have the financial means or anyone there and my visa ended and with the type of visa it was I couldn’t have extended it. I was leaving knowing I’d eventually be back. Not knowing how though. So now Im back in my home country and I asked the astrologer if I ever move back there and he said NO. He said that someone from there will come to me though. I cant accept that faith. Im a very happy, rarely anxious person who usually doesn’t see problems and accepts everything life gives me and I’m grateful for everything I get to live through. This entire experience made me realise that if I don’t eventually relocate, I really don’t see a point in life. I feel alien in my home country and I’ve traveled to around 15 countries and there is only one place where I want to be. yet he said its not in the cards for me. Does anyone have any input on this
